DSC 1 in a day?

I did it in 1 day with jelen, assessment only. Very straightforward, written tests in morning, shooting and safety in a field in the afternoon. Jelen even gave an interactive cd to learn all the answers from before the day. Its not very difficult, if your shooting deer already you should know most of the answers.

I had to lend a few people my r93 to take the shooting test, mikes sako broke on the day!
Just to save confusion that's Jelen as in this link Deer experts in Hampshire UK for all training, consulting and deer control
Not me on this site..

Any one do these in Kent one day course and study at home
Search bds dsc assessment only on your chosen search engine... I believe it can be assessment only with relevant experience and knowledge to allow you to successfully complete. Think bds sell the training materials, but unless you're already clued up and ok with the practical elements better to go for the multi day. Odd thing is, BDS is 3 days with assessment... BASC is 4 days ? Not done it yet, but looking to.

Some say one day assessments one is shooting and the next day written test. I am trying to get one nearest to Kent spoke to BDS TOLD none in this area.

To be honest, having looked at the application form for assessment only is £160 + any training material you think you need. Full course is £295. My issue isn't so much the cost of the course but the 3 days away from home / family and accommodation / travel costs which bump up the cost of attending greatly.

Trickyd66 those are the same reason I am struggling with two special needs children one day is fine but two or three days No . Cost is not much more

Totally understand... Best bet is to keep an eye on upcoming courses in your area on the BDS /BASC websites and then contact to see if they will do an assessment only ? Good luck

I did mine in one day with BASC at Dunkeld.
I had however done a lot of preparation with the CD ( Jelen I think ), got my wife asking me questions for days before and also spent a lot of time punching holes in paper.

Dsctraining.org do mock online tests then do test day shooting test and simulated stalk with your chosen provider ✅

Just make sure it is with a certified DMQ centre, not one of these micky mouse made up courses that seem to abound at times.

As someone in a very similar situation (one special needs and 2 “normal”) I did the jelen online learning course and booked on to their assessment day. There’s one a month I think. It’s not too far from Kent either so I could do it as a day trip all be it with a rather early start to get there for 8.30. I think there were 8 of us and we were finished by lunchtime

Did you do the test and shooting both by lunch
Yes. Started 8.30 ish and did the picture round followed by the 2 test papers. Short drive to the range where we split in to 2 groups, one to the range and the other did the safety walk and questions, then we swapped. Thankfully everyone could shoot straight so we weren’t waiting around much. Had my packed lunch on the way home and got some brownie points for getting home earlier than I said I’d be.
