There’s a few electric quad bikes on the market now; has anyone got one / any experience of them?

im looking for a new ATV (road registered) for pottering around on with feed and occasionally with rifle - electric sounds nice as they’re quiet and no petrol cans.

cheers

I looked into this the other day, having seen a piece/ad for these being used by amputee veteran. The company behind those had a few used for sale. I was discouraged by some of them having already needed new battery packs within a few hundred km, and others being for sale with very, very light use on them.
I'll look again as and when the technology appears to be more practical.

There's a local farmer who delivers the Good News paper round the local village on an electric quad bike. He bought one of the first ones out, they're British made and apparently often used by film companies. He is so pleased with his he's looking to buy a newer model before the batteries run out!
Trouble is, you wouldn't hear it being driven away in the night!

I suspect that electric power would be pretty good for quad bikes. Let’s face it, milk floats dating back 60+ years were effective when battery technology was pants. So long as the torque is there to do most of their more onerous work.

my last 7.5 ton recovery truck was x uinigate had 3 ramps to recover the 3 wheel milk floats

Hi AGR, do you know what make the ATV is, the only uk manufacturer I’m aware of is Eco Charger.
So quiet you could drive it away at night would be great - I could use it for rabbit and fox shooting too. I currently keep my ATV in the garage where it’s quite secure - not that many folk would be interested in nicking a 17 year old Yamaha 😂
Cheers

Not many people would nick a new Yamaha

Seriously the battery tech is getting better, less moving parts to mechanic….. for what I’d use it for it’d make great sense- four or five hours a week topping up feeders, another ten hours going out silently after foxes …….

I grant you a sheep farmer would want something they could use many more hours in the day…

Only issue is I haven’t got the money😬😳

looking at electric quad at farm innovations show at NEC last Nov Was more than a bit taken back when quoted £20k for one with the larger lithium battery pack for extra range. Have since bought an electric ktm dirt bike for dicking around the farm on just to see how I get on without an ic engine and recharging. 50 mph across a field and only noise is rattle from the bikes chain and my butt cheeks. Not much use for carrying anything though other than a silly grin.

Would wait till the technology catches up and the prices become more realistic/competitive.

To be honest I would be wondering these are so cheap. Even the biggest and most rugged eco rider is considerably cheaper than a new petrol machine such as the honda.
Looks a bit roo good to be true.

They worked but the batteries were huge and they weighed as much as 2 cars.
