Importing expanding bullets

I myself certainly do not mind being described "Picky" as you term it, I would be opposed to being possibly thought of "Sloppy", as using incorrect terminology lends to the user/s.;)

As language is gradually changing and adapting I reckon it'll only be the old funny-duddies using the term 'bullets' for heads soon anyhow. :old:

No offence meant btw finnbear !

I would think now that Cliffs details have been posted for ALL to see it will only be a matter of time B4 we can no longer order from him, deerwarden

hi guys can somebody clarify the rules of importing bullets from the states, there is a shop in the states that will send bullets to the UK and are a damn sight cheaper than over here, but is this legal to do most people seem to think this is legal but I can't find any guidance to confirm this either can anybody point me in the right direction please , or does anybody no for sure I'm ok to do this I obviously have the correct calibre and expanding missiles on my fac thanks
no chance you cant ship any bullets out of the usa without an export permit (even to its so called friends) the usa has in the last couple of years become very unwilling to send any firearm components out of the usa. this covers some scopes. triggers. barrels. actions. bullets. most outlets for bullets and parts will take your order and then cancel it when they find out you live outside the usa. i have always come back with mine usa customs just dont want to know. i always just put them in the case with my fac/cert and just to let you know us customs always open my case make sure you put a (T.A.S LOCK )on your case. and i dont even go into the red chanel at customs just put them on your own cert no problem. and you cannot get them posted as expanding are a section 5 so a no no on that. and you cannot get friends to bring them in this is only aplicable to expanding bullets.

Darn it, have I got to send all my stuff back then !!
I've had alsorts from Cliff and one or two other bits and pieces from US contacts in the last year or so with no trouble whatsoever, oh, I did have to pay customs on my RCBS Chargemaster :-(

how does it work with filling in your certificate? because normally your rfd fills in how much bullets you have purchased from him. so do you fill this part in yourself?

Bullets don't need to be entered on your certificate, only on the dealer's register. Anyone that says different is wrong.

Kind regards,

Tim

well on my certificate i can purchase 100 rounds of ammo. but also on my certificate i can purchase 200 heads. every head i have ever bought has been entered into my certificate the same way buying complete ammo is. so who is wrong? my feo? because he told me i am not allowed to purchase heads until i showed him i had the equipment needed to make the rounds. no rfd will sell you unless it is on your certificate. well thats how it works in aberdeenshire

Pablo,

Never believe anything an FLO says because invariably they are clueless. Always do your own research and due diligence. It seems to me that Firearms Licensing is the only job in the country that someone can have and yet have no knowledge of what they are doing. There is no provision in the Act or Guidelines for having separate allowances for purchasing bullets and cartridges. Your Constabulary is making the law up rather than enforcing it as it should be doing.

Kind regards,

Tim

next time i see him i shall ask regarding this and also about the fact if i am allowed to import them. have a feeling what he might say. no too both

I wouldn't bother asking about importing. If the firearms department are abusing their authority in the way you say they are then they are bound to get excited over this.

They should not be making you jump through hoops before you buy reloading components and there is no need for there to be anything different on your certificate apart from the normal ammo allowances (the higher the better). Best thing you could do is speak to BASC firearms department and get advice from them.

How am I supposed to send back the hundreds of bullets that I've shot into deer, or the back stop, or a target? Do I have to go and find them all again :-)

Well I hope I don't have to, as the number is in the hundreds !!!
