Alternatives to lead shot are being used by wildfowlers in the UK for decades and overseas by hunters worldwide. Various research has been done and will continue to be carried out and arguing against science that dates back a century on the toxic impacts of lead shot on birds with 'what ifs' on the alternatives is a futile and even damaging argument against the continued use of lead shot for live quarry shooting. Here is some research:

Effects of Ingested Tungsten-Bismuth-Tin Shot on Captive Mallards​


We conclude that TBT shot presents virtually no potential for acute intoxication in mallards under the conditions of our study.

Acute toxicity of lead, steel and an iron-tungsten-nickel shot to mallard ducks​


There were no significant morphologic or histopathologic abnormalities of the liver and kidney in the H-S and steel shot groups. Results indicated that mallards dosed orally with eight No. 4 H-S pellets were not adversely affected over a 30-day period, and that H-S provides another environmentally safe nontoxic shot for use in waterfowl hunting.

Does BASC support or not (or will it lobby for an exemption) the ban on the use of lead buckshot and lead slug in 12 bore shotguns used under the "crofter exemption"?

Again, multipe times, you have not answered my question. Let's try yet again for the umpeeth time. Does your organisation support a ban on the use of lead shot for clay pigeon shooting?

And if you ever shot a deer with a .243" Winchester, as I have, you will know that being a hyper velocity projectile at over 3,000fps when leaving the muzzle it is will usually spread lead shards far more widely into the animal than a large calibre bullet of much more moderate velocity.

And for what it is worth the haunch being traceable came from a farmed enclosed herd of deer that are head shot. But seeing if you want to personalise the discussion maybe you're one that talks so much out of the back of their neck that don't even now know an arse from an elbow.

Re 243 and BASC, I couldn't care less.
243 will be exempt anyway, it was revealed to me a couple of years ago.
Air gun pellets also before your gang did any lobbying for which your gang likes to take credit for.
It's been used as a bargaining chip so organisations like yours gain psuedo credits from the blinded masses.

You claim "you've lobbied to have me silenced plenty". That's not true. Please evidence your assertion to prove me wrong. And let's remind folk that you have campaigned on here for "somebody [to] shut the voice of shooting up" and that is perhaps ironic coming from a chap who regularly rants about freedom of choice and rallies against communism and dictatorships - but when your world view is challenged off you run to get your censorship jack boots on to shut people up.

Again, denial in the face of science. I get the same with the antis on all sorts - set in their views regardless of the evidence - and it's a bit dissapointing to get the same off some shooters like yourself - but it's just the way it is these days in society - and you are just another example of the wider problem.
