Why not just advertise it as multi calibre?wish they would hurry up ive got a .243 wildlcat sat here and its multi calibre but i'm tied to advertise it as a .243 i can only sell it as such
I actually use my 17hmr sak on my air rifle, and very good it is tooIt's a moderator, in a practical world you would have non FAC for air, Rimfire, and centrefire.
Not calibre specific
A 30 Cal on a 22 hornet may not be as effective for noise reduction, but it is just a metal tube.
I can go out tomorrow and buy a SAK.177 / 22 mod for my non fac air rifle (the same mod I would be sold under license on my FAC Rimfire)
As we the people who use them know ,madness.
Can of worms now. If the air rifle is non FAC, and the mod is FAC, does the air rifle become FAC and Subject to the same conditions?I actually use my 17hmr sak on my air rifle, and very good it is too![]()
HI I was told by GMP that as it was sold to me as a .243 and has a SN on the mod which is registered on their system even though its a multi calibre Mod its tied to GMP records as a .243 and can only be sold as such ( till the change in law comes in )Why not just advertise it as multi calibre?
Just because you use it on a .243 doesn't mean someone else can't use on a different calibre rifle.
When I first had an empty slot for a mod to use on my .243, I bought one 2nd hand that was advertised as "suitable for up to .30 calibre".
It was initially entered on my FAC as .243
The same mod is currently listed on my FAC as .270 but I still only use it on my .243 because I decided not to screwcut the .270
Not according to the feo who visited me?Can of worms now. If the air rifle is non FAC, and the mod is FAC, does the air rifle become FAC and Subject to the same conditions?
The wording on my FAC suggests that the moderator Is to be used with rifle it is granted for / alongside. ?!!
The situation is still as it has always been. You can walk into an RFD and buy either a dedicated air rifle moderator such as a BSA or an HW or a crossover such as a SAK, no questions asked other than written/official proof of your name and address etc for the shop register. The potential anomaly in the proposed legislation was picked up by BASC and from this, further clarity was asked for.Can of worms now. If the air rifle is non FAC, and the mod is FAC, does the air rifle become FAC and Subject to the same conditions?

I took one to the local gunshop a few weeks ago and gave it away to get it off my FAC.wish they would hurry up ive got a .243 wildlcat sat here and its multi calibre but i'm tied to advertise it as a .243 i can only sell it as such
More micro management madness. Can of worms now. If the air rifle is non FAC, and the mod is FAC, does the air rifle become FAC and Subject to the same conditions?

Arse & Elbows again. Not according to the feo who visited me?
Sell it as what it is, not as what you used it for.wish they would hurry up ive got a .243 wildlcat sat here and its multi calibre but i'm tied to advertise it as a .243 i can only sell it as such
Indeed, but they're not actually attending to any of them.Like our Labour Government don't have more pressing issues to attend to!
K
Will it? More likely it can be done by statutory instrument. To change the law on Moderators will require amendments to the Firearms Act.
This will require parliamentary time and debate. Do we really want politicians to scrutinise the Firearms Act yet again and for them all to put their pennies worth in. Even worse do you want Government Whips agreeing to yet more restrictions on Firearms act so they can use this to curry favour with MPs as a bargaining chip with on other legislation they want to get through.
Do we really want to run that risk, just so that you can easily exchange one moderator for another?
I don’t think it is worth it frankly.
