Oakland park/Vicars

Hi folks,
Has anyone got experience of taking carcasses to the new Oakland Park place at Hermitage?
There’s very little on their website other than hours they’re open with regards to taking carcasses there.
I’m sure everyone will be doing the same, but culling some fallow next week and would ideally be shooting more than I can deal with myself.
Thanks

My only thoughts about Oakland Park is, that having established two massive deer parks as part of their business development, they're likely to drop their wild deer carcass suppliers as soon as their own herds come into full production.
Maybe I'm just being cynical.
I think “ cynical “ is a prerequisite in Stalkers

I was speaking to Alan a few weeks ago and asked about the deer park he said they aren't breeding for the carcass, but to sell live either to people setting up deer parks or wanting stock for existing ones

Would suggest highly unlikely as currently they only have 75 reds and 30 fallow.

The place is enormous, literally like an aircraft hanger able to process 200 deer a day (I seem to remember).

They will need the wild supply to make it viable.

If I've rememebred correctly, the acreage they've emparked is huge, and they have sika, red and fallow.
Yes, they'll need wild supply to make it viable, but for how long? Their potential to produce their own carcasses to a higher standard than wild ones is not to be ignored.
It'll take a few years for their own herds to be up to full production, but after that? We'll see.

Believe it’s 78 acres and have c20 sika. 👍

I thought they'd created two parks, totalling several hundred acres, but happy to be corrected.

They may have another area elsewhere, but onsite it’s 78 acres split into two large areas and a few small paddocks for Sika, CWD etc.

Yes I've dealt with them. Very easy process and will continue to use them, but worth mentioning the following:

- Carcasses have to be delivered to their premises within 4 days of being shot.
- You must have an account set up with them prior to just turning up (and I don't believe they are taking on any more stalkers/account holders currently)

I've heard of an instance of someone turning up with 7 or 8 headshot fallow and was turned away due to no account. How true or not that is I don't know, but I wouldn't want to find out the hard way!

That’s helpful, thanks. Shame that their books are possibly full already though.
Any other dealers locally? Am I right in saying that Vicars has sort of merged into the Oaklands thing?

Oakland and vicars are 2 completely different companies.

Vicars have today announced they won't take any deer in this week due to being over run with carcasses.

If you have to do deer this week give Oakland a call first.

I'd give them a call.

I believe Alan Hayward sold Vicars and is now a partner in Oakland.

The volumes Oakland are intending to process way exceed what they will be producing in the deer parks.
As already stated, Alan sold Vicars to Yattendon estate, and is a partner/stakeholder in Oakland.
Once you have an account set up it’s seamless.
Due to their size they can take large numbers of deer at a time, which is useful if park culling.
I pretty certain it’s head and neck shot deer only.
Payment is swift.
