Quad sticks. Worth it ?

Ive used them on range and with a gude once. Seemed steady but a bit limited left and right. Different than the trusty bogpod long bipod for sure which has had more than I can count. Before that I had a prmos trigger stick-average in my view. Dont really fancy garden canes.

I can shoot well enough off long bipod sticks and light to carry but looking for an advantage 150-200m.

Now as someone who doesnt like spending money, I dont want to buy viper flex carbon fibre etc etc at £499 or whatever ridiculous price they are now.

What do people use and recommend say under £150? Ideally collapsible or take down amd fairly lightweight to bring overseas if I need to. Strong enough to assist dragging deer …

Nobody will see them apart from me, wont be showing them off or preening about latest toy. Purely functional.

Anyone tried or have Mjoelner ?

I bought the Primos Gen3 tripod to assist with my DSC1. I went out for a practice shoot the before with a friend who had some Blaser Quad sticks. I shot with both and the steadiness the quad sticks provide over the tripod is a huge difference. The Gen3s are going back and i'm going to be purchasing some Blaser Quads
 
+1 for the above stablesticks. You can break them down easily for transport ,they're light and stable. If I've got a rifle I've got the sticks with me.

Edit - dragging deer with them probably won't work, there is always a trade off. If you're wanting something to drag deer with, you will require something substantially heavier - more weight in it.
 
quad stocks for me are spot on to just over 200 - seeland decoy pair have served me well for what was about a hundred quid a few years ago.

They are conventional quadstocks and not quadpod with single rest for rifle (apologies image unclear on phone without reading glasses this time of night…)

@limulus on here makes fantastic hardwood sticks… I’ve tried primos, blaser and others but always come back to the Limilus ones

Bought and now using Mjoelner.
Wouldn't be without them now.

I have mjoelner quad sticks and can vouch for them. I had a minor issue with lower part of adjustable leg coming loose, as did a friend but it was an easy fix with a small self tapping screw.
 
I prefer quad sticks where as the keeper and one of the other lads prefer other methods, one being lying on the wet ground using his bipod. The keeper off the bonnet of his jeep.
One of the other lads swears by his home made carbon fibre quad sticks over his more expensive Blaser quad sticks. Horses for course really, get what you pay for.

Make your own and practice with them.

Your initial outlay will be cheaper, tgen if you decide you want to waste your money on a carbon fibre set that do the same job that's up to you but at least you'll know if four sticks are for you before spending a couple of hundred quid
 
As above I did the green b&q type. They were ok. I didn't like the metal edge that marked my stock if I didn't put something over or in it. But I went from a single thumb stick years ago, to bipod sticks. Skipped the tripod style.
Then I got viper flex. Took a bit of learning. But I couldnt stalk without them now. I can stand and watch somewhere all night and just lean on my rifle. They are that stable and solid.
I just upgraded to the carbon ones this time. No reason other than I thought they would be warmer on the hand. Which they are and for some reason noticeably lighter. When on paper it's not much.
Downside of the carbon. The leg holder catches more as its lower. But it's not stopped any shots yet. I don't notice it then. The noise they all make is easily stoppable for the cost of a golf club shrink grip off eBay.
Would I buy carbon again. Yes I would. They last years. So divide it across your many stalks.
My friends have some from bush wear. They are ok. Lean on them like I do mine and the front rest kicks up. But he shoots a lot of deer just fine. Blaser ones are smart. I think he has gone to these now. Dad has the one that split in half. They work. But I like to slide my sticks shut at times.
I'm happy with the vipers. Slide them shut when dragging, packing deer out and put them on my bag. Same if sitting for a shot. Lay them across trees for a rest if sitting. All sorts of things you use them for.
Have you got any friends that will let you have a go with a set?
