Viper flex with 5th leg. Buy once cry once tripod ideal for woodland and the 5th leg lets you take shots as far as you would ever want to
Someone gave me their b&q ones when they upgraded. I love them. Lateral movement is limited but for longer shots (OP says 150 on) you have time to move the sticks a bit. I’m with you.Quad sticks are definitely worth having. Whether you spend a few hundred quid, or make your own for under £20, the end result is the same.
I'm confident taking deer out to 230 yards off my homemade B&Q jobbies.

True. I wouldn't be dragging deer with mineBecause you state " dragging deer" with them to my mind there is only one choice and its nothing that telescopes up and down or is made of thin walled tube . That's most sticks on sale commercially off the list then ?!
I normally just drag deer with climbing loop round the neck. On rough ground ive used the sticks behind me for equal grip with looparound them or through another climbing loop.Because you state " dragging deer" with them to my mind there is only one choice and its nothing that telescopes up and down or is made of thin walled tube . Yep, despite my recent "squeak" thread they are great. Squeak sorted now and my fault for not drying them.... ever....Anyone tried or have Mjoelner ?
Good example how a (if loaded) rifle could be pointed to the housing estate 2 miles away....mind you if it was aQuad sticks beat any other field support solution I have tried for repeatable accuracy. [I can hit targets repeatedly on a 600 yard range during testing, so am very confident in the field on quarry at distances up to 300m]
Of the quad sticks available, I first tried Viper Flex. Undeniably good, but the flat rest's predispostion to tilt [unpredictably] under vertical loading was off-putting.
Next were garden canes. Excellent rigidity, but weighty to carry and not compact.
My final choice have been my go-to for a couple of years. The significant features:
- Stable horizontal platform
- Lightweight
- Compact and can be broken down and carried in suitcase
