Anyone recently sent a Schmidt & Bender scope for repair? Where was it sent and how long did it take?

Unless you want to deal with all export/import license stuff yourself, they have to go via Optics Warehouse, who'll charge you £90 unless you bought the scope from them.

Can I recommend East Coast Binos in Norfolk - he’s a Zeiss repair man but when I dropped in there the place was full of all kinds of optics.

£90 isn’t that bad. The post some won’t be cheap. I used a U.K. scope repair guy and my scope still needed to go back to Schmidt. Do it right the first time or you may just end up paying twice.

I’ve sent a couple back over the last year. I’ve dealt with S&B directly and I they provided amazing customer service. I believe I contacted them either through their website/email (can’t remember if there is a contact form) then they email back with a form you have to fill out and return to them. Then they send you something else that you print off and post, or something like that. It certainly wasn’t had work. I then used UPS (they are pretty good too) and it was with them the next day for something like £20.00. Three (approx) weeks later it was back with me.

What S&B scopes are going back for repair? I’ve had countless swaro, s&b and Zeiss over the years, only S&B scopes have avoiding any repairs or servicing

From Germany to the UK I sent a very small lightweight parcel that cost me 25 Euros so £90 for both ways post and customs work seems par for the course post big B.

Damn sight faster than Optics Warehouse, who seem to be only any good at telling you they've heard nothing and will chase up S&B....

These guys are now UK distributors, took over recently Elite Optical Distribution LTD | Technology for the Outdoors Elite Optical Distribution LTD | Technology for the Outdoors Elite Optical Distribution but I’m not sure if they will take over after sales in time

Schmidt closed their UK office three years ago and that caused very minor issues with having to deal direct with zee Germans who are very nice and efficient but added costs with shipping etc

If you use one of the bigger dealers like @Edinburgh Rifles or McLeods of Tain they might have a few to send back at a time to keep costs down
