Sightron Warranty/Returns - Who?

Never thought it would happen to what I thought was one of my most reliable and durable scopes but my baby STAC has developed a weird rattle inside it. Something is lose and it sounds like it is coming from the windage turret. This makes sense as the rifle has suddenly started shooting a bit loose left/right whilst retaining perfect elevation. I tested it at the weekend further out and from 7 shots, 3 pretty much went through the same hole with the other four randomly going 2 inches left or right. There was not more than 1/2 inch of elevation change though. Rifle normally shoots bang on.

Anyhow, has anyone ever returned a Sightron? Their website says international (non US) purchases should be returned via the UK Sightron distributor but I have no idea who this is. I don't have a receipt and cannot for the life of me remember where I bought it. Most recent purchases have come from Optics Warehouse but this was a few years back and I just cannot remember.

Anyone got any ideas? Will be interesting to test their claimed lifetime warranty. Failure will lead to more scope shopping. Oh well, every cloud......

I bought a pair of Sightron Binos from a chap named "John" of "Aim fieldsports" ,he always had a stall at the game shows.
The first pair literally fell apart and where replaced under warranty the second pair developed the same faults but they wouldn't replace and said I had mis-used them. Needless to say I will not be buying Sightron products again.
I probably still have contact details, if you need them drop me a PM.
Steve.

Thanks everyone who has replied.

Optics warehouse have been really helpful (as they always are) Lisa said to send it back to them and they would organise a return to USA and they will sort. Might take a few weeks but its not urgent. There are always various bits of glass in the cupboard when you have an optics addiction

Will update once sightron have done their thing

Sightron didn't/couldn't repair it, so they just replaced it with a new one which has been working fine since.

It took about 4wks or so from memory but most of the wait was because optics warehouse would send it back when they had a few units needed sending to USA. Which is fair enough as they did warn me it might be a fortnight or so before they would send it back. All in all, a good outcome and Optics Warehouse were great as usual. Its the only thing i have returned through them but bought plenty of stuff and always find them easy and efficient to deal with.

Many thanks!

Of course they couldn’t repair it, that would mean sending it to a factory somewhere in the middle of a China.
You always know who truly makes their own scopes and who contracts production to the Far East based on their ability to repair or replace. I’m sure a ‘damage allowance’ is built into the sightron contract so they have a small discount from the factory making them to offset the ones they have to replace

Sightron scopes are either made in Japan or the Philippines. I've had top end European scopes that couldn't track to save their lives.

Take your blinders off and wake up.

I sent my Sightron SV back earlier in the year, but with cancelled range days and the current Covid restrictions, I simply haven't chased them for any update...

Just wondering what problem you had with your SV as I bought one recently .
I was using it on my 300 win mag and the cross hairs / glass their on had rotated off vertical within the scope. I've 4 of them, all bought new and it's the only and first problem I've experienced with them. They're more my target shooting scopes, as most my other shooting is with NV

Just to give you an update, I chased up opticswarehouse following this thread and they told me my scope was ready and just awaiting shipment to Optics warehouse from Sightron as part of their next shipment.

I got a phone call today to say it's now with them. Speaking with the lady on the phone it's been repaired... I don't think they actually make them anymore as their no longer listed for sale in the UK? 🤞🏽 It comes back in the same mint condition with box in which it was posted😬.

As the scope wasn't purchased through them, I'd have to pay the delivery charge of £7.50, which is very reasonable and didn't question paying this... it's due to arrive tomorro, in time for a bank holiday zeroing session😉
