Sinusitis

Any information on how to sleep when you have Sinusitis, Developed this about a month ago, been to quacks who said it might be bacterial so put me on antibiotics and antihistamine, so far this hasn't made the symptoms any better ,If I'm really lucky i might get a couple of hours undisturbed sleep each night, Im hoping that some of the collective members of SD might have had or know someone who has had this and how they got over it.
On the plus side its easy going out in the morning at 3am with thermal having a look about, easier than trying to sleep

Ultimately, there is an operation you can have which a friend described as life-changing.
I've had trouble with sinuses too. I found antihistamines (if your tyoe doesn't work try a different type - i use loratadine fwiw, decongestants (over the counter type yellow pills something chloride), getting habit of regular moderately vigorous exercise, no alcohol and early nights helped.

I'm having trouble with this myself. I get blood in the back of my throat from it in the mornings and it is triggering ashthma. Having a hell of a job to convince my doctor that the night time asthma isn't caused by acid reflux. She's put me on a nasal steroid spray but it isn't making much difference. I've got to stay on it for a month before she'll refer me to an ear, nose and throat specialist.

I do have physical damage to my nose following a car accident and I find nasal breath-rite strips do help. Whether they help with pure sinusitis I don't know but it's worth a try. Ultimately, the only fix is an operation. Good luck getting it sorted.

I can't comment on sinusitis but if I get a bad head cold and sore nose and nasal passages I reach for pure teatree oil. Put it on a cotton bud and poke it up the nose.

A constant problem that I have learnt to live with following a bash in the face that damaged my sinuses. It's bearable most of the time, but really bad when an infection flares up. You will learn to breath through your mouth, and you will snore. A lot. Even when awake, sometimes.

Similar sort of thing happens with me, i do suffer from a bit of reflux and its been suggested by the quack that the cause of the sinus problem is directly attributed to the irritation on the sinuses from the reflux.

Sinusitis is a generally self-limiting condition that has an average duration of 2½ weeks. Therefore, in suspected cases of sinusitis local measures should be advised in the first instance. Antibiotic therapy should only be used for persistent symptoms and/or purulent discharge lasting at least seven days or if symptoms are severe.
Local Measures – to be used in the first instance Advise the patient to use steam inhalation

then ephedrine nasal drops

then antibiotics.

Just to note sinusitis can sometimes be caused by dental problems or other diseases so the history of the onset it quite important.
good luck

oxymetazoline hydrochloride. Awesome stuff and just bought over counter.

Thankfully don’t have the issues I used to but it was awesome to clear the sinuses I could instantly feel that pressure go.

My nasal problems and the inability to breath at night through my nose began immediately after breaking my nose against the windscreen in an off-road car accident. But my doctor insists that it must be reflux.

Tried Sudafed, nearly ended up in A&E, After a course of Sudafed Decongestant, after taking the last tablet i couldn't Pee at all, spent the early hours of a morning in excruciating pain trying to relieve the pressure, eventually after a hot shower managed to pee, to be fair if you read the super small print info inside the box it does mention this could be a side effect

Try the sinus rinse kit, drug free no side effects,
Tried that, works if you can actually breath in, my sinuses are that blocked i can't breath in through my nostrils, have just ordered a steam thing of Amazon to try, getting desperate now, had 3 hrs sleep last night, breathing through your mouth continually isn't that nice, leaves your mouth bone dry which wakes you up after 30 mins
My heart goes out to the other SD members who have responded to my first question and who also suffer similar ailments, ive always taken good health for granted, been lucky i guess, but Sinusitis if defiantly the work of the devil

Having a hell of a job to convince my doctor
Appears to be the norm since coronavirus...
Be very careful, my dads been admitted to hospital with an ear infection that is not responding to any antibiotics.... poor sod had been to the dr's several times AND A&E three times before the so called medical professionals took him seriously.
Its not looking good..

I have allergic rhinitis (house dust mites amongst other things). So suffer a “stuffy” nose frequently. Antihistamine helps, but it is something that I just live with.
However I also have crown’s on my front teeth and have suffered from frequent abscess’s over the years.
I went to the dentist with what to all intents and purposes felt like an abscess. X-ray wasn’t clear (long roots) so off to A&E.
Turned out to be a sinus infection that was clearing up but still very painful. I was told to get some of this. The relief was almost instant. image.webp
