The people's republic of Scotland

Hi Malc... you are correct.
I'm being ironic in some posts (just my sense of humour) 'cos I can't understand why folk would want to vote yes. In my opinion it would be ruinous, certainly in the short term.
Here's another one. If the vote is Yes then all that means is that Alex Salmond, aka wee eck around here , has a mandate to go and negotiate with the Really big boys..the EEC and the bank of England.
If,as I suspect,Scotland is not automatically transferred as a country into the EEC then it will have to negotiate entry. Since 1996 any country which applies to join must, within two years, accept the euro.
Salmond et all refuse to even contemplate this scenario. They are leading folk right up a rosy garden path.
Another part of re entry would entail, for example, negotiating our fish quota. I'm sure the Spanish would be rubbing their hands at that.
Eyes need to be opened here.

basically, every soldier in Scotland would be relocated to 'Britain' serving the Queen or probably just made redundant but in any case the entire armed forces infrastructure in Scotland at best gets mothballed at the loss of how many jobs????. All the jobs serving the British armed forces in Scotland end, all the war planes ship servicing, engineering and contracts serving the British armed forces based in Scotland will leave. National contracts serving the UK supporting 10's of thousands of jobs would be put at risk because how could high end industry gamble on new untested currency, look at the launch of the Euro FFS.

So Scotland will not have a legal armed force to react to potential emergencies including a Navy to patrol our waters from poaching gits, drug dealers and people traffickers .... joking right?

....oh wait no, Salmondella has a plan. We will just magic it all up from nothing, at how may billions from the Scottish tax payer.... get real

Yet again your providing us with jobs - but people say there's employment black spots in England and Wales.
Why not take this opportunity to move them down south and say Cheerio?

I heard on Radio Scotland that Yes campaigners got short shrift when they started up outside the bae shipyard in Govan. The guys there and in Faslane have votes too you know...and currently at least..jobs.

Spot On.

Maybe you're right but we contribute roughly £1700 per adult and child in taxes but only get back £1200 so that's £2.5billion unaccounted for?

This 'unaccounted' money is quoted quite a lot. The whole of the uk does this. Scotland gets back more money than any other country in the union (it's payment for 'stealing oor oil')This 'shortfall' goes to paying the subs for EU membership. Does Scotland expect not to have to pay the subs for membership? The whole sorry affair is nothing but Alec trying to write himself into history.

No interest at all in any figures anyone conjures up at the moment , what will count is the figures in the future ,and we have all recently seen the consequences of politicians buying the proletariat's vote with promises of ever increasing benefits (Greece, Portugal et al )- "jam tomorrow".
If you want a viable comparison look at what happened in the Slovak Republic aka the less developed more remote half of Czechoslovakia , then detract any EU money (and despite what Toady would have anyone believe a newly minted Scotland would have to apply - just ask the Spanish ) ,idly watching news 24 the other morning i listened to some deluded hag raving that Scotland could emulate Denmark's economy , dream on .

Again, Spot On.

The Yes campaign are impervious to facts, their faith conquers all.
It's more like a religious cult than a campaign.

The only reason smiley is waving the Union flag is there is not one waving the cross of St George , i am very much English first and British a distant second.
I care little whether the vote is yes or no , the only thing that concerns me is how long before the new Socialist Republic of Scotland takes to sink under a mountain of debt (if all the jam tomorrow promises of that fat lying little toad are ever delivered .......) and then who gets to pick up the tab .......... ?

Ive yet to see a farmers field where most on here do their stalking with a YES in it...

Covering a certain main superstore chain from Glasgow to Thurso i recon weve passed a fair few farms...

Quite true. I have yet to hear reasoned and objective observation, comment and discussion from the YES side. Their stock in trade is almost entirely emotionally based, there is very little rational debate or hard economic figures.

PF know what you're right.

Lets just keep Eck in his place as First Muppet and the SNP going for as long as we can
Within 3 years air rifles will be banned, and shooters will be limited to 3 rifles max (if that!)
Between 5 and 10 years good old Boris will be PM and taking Scotland for all it's worth.
The NHS will be non existent and everyone will have to pay a min of £2k for health insurance.

As you quite rightly say "Don't say I didn't warn ye!"

Yes, I think that is true. No nukes at Faslane if we become independent. I think the American nuclear bombing capability already no longer uses Machrihanish too. I suppose the primary strike risk goes down for the West of Scotland if Salmond gets his wishes.

ps. I'm not sure what I've done to resemble someone you clearly dislike and I don't understand what you are referring to.

"No nukes at Faslane if we become independent" Don't forget there will be no support jobs or spending power of the locally based service personnel either. How will the resulting economic void be filled?

"I suppose the primary strike risk goes down for the West of Scotland if Salmond gets his wishes." Very unlikely. Any major city remains a target and will do as long as international warfare is a possibility, however remote that may seem. Does Salmond still think Putin is a good sort? There are a lot of people in Ukraine who would disagree.

Any major city within or supporting a nuclear capable regime would definitely remain a target. With the nuclear capability removed and the association to a regime with nuclear capability severed would Scotland really still be such a target?

there is an old saying that rings true with this shambles 'better the devil you know' i imagine by the time the dust has settled and the screaming stopped your average scotland resident will want to turn back the clock

You are very free with other peoples jobs ... as is Salmond.
Vote for the bully boys if you like.
Other people are also watching and making up their mind.
Don't say ah didnae warn ye.

Follow the road diagonally to the top right.
Where the road crosses under the railway zoom in on the field corner to the upper left from the bridge.

I think the farmer was having a laff don't you:-D

"association to a regime with nuclear capability" Isn't an intention to join NATO regularly stated by the SNP?

I'll suddenly be employed by a foreign business as a lot of people already are
