To clean or not to clean Moderators ? - That is the question.

I bought a little can of jollup from New Avon Arms specifically for Moderator cleaning with which I give mine a little squirt of now and again. I think it’s made by Napier. Seems to work, doesn’t smoke when fired. I always keep the threads clean of crud with a cotton wool bud / kitchen roll - acknowledging Ed’s (Edinburgh Rifles) point that crud in threads is never a good thing, especially Aluminium.

I stand by what I say, it’s a consumable, you will wear it out eventually!

Nothing lasts forever!

Keep it just for stalking h you’ll get 10-15 years out of it,
Target shoot with it 5-7 of your lucky
you can say that about anything!
your rifle your car even your life but i would never buy a mod expecting to replace it
a mate of mine had an old t8 which rusted through but it was so old
i just wouldnt class things like that as consumables
maybe different outlook on life

You’ll kill a mod eventually, my T8 did 12 years!

Back then that’s was the moderator, there was bugger all else to go for as they had only just become legal!

25 years in and I’m on my 3rd mod
