Nah, that’s not rubbish!
This is rubbish.
Found this when over the fields and leaned my rifle on a tree….i thought I felt a movement somewhere and on feeling the barrel it was loose, so I unscrewed it to find this.

Old tenon (Sako original barrel) was .020” undersize) established after measuring the action

The barrel was so loose in the action thread it could be described as a “wizards sleeve fit”

The new tenon is a “slightly” better fit ,,,,not reminiscent of sloppy seconds

Barrel now chambered in 222

Unlikely to be any more builds now, heading for 69th B'day , So I reckon a new .222 for Foxing .. a .25-06 on reserve duties .. my new 6.5PRC rail gun:norty: for distance shoots, .. the 6.5PRC for the odd deer, .. Alpinist 9.3 x 62 for Hogs, I Reckon the battery should see me out.
:norty:

Finn;
Why did you choose the 222 for foxing?
Interesting round.
Thanks, Ken.
Ps. That battery will deff. see you out if it’s a BEREC.

.222 Historically accurate, and will be confined to a 200 yard foxing gun, but more so for the least disturbance at night, OK, can't do Ow't for the supersonic crack, but there will not be a perceptible boom shooting it through an ASE SL5.

Ken.

.222 Historically accurate,
The .222 Remington or 5.7×43mm (C.I.P), also known as the triple deuce, triple two, and treble two, is a centerfire rifle cartridge. Introduced in 1950, it was the first commercial rimless .22 (5.56 mm) cartridge made in the United States. As such, it was an entirely new design, without a parent case.[2] The .222 Remington was a popular target cartridge from its introduction until the mid-1970s and still enjoys a reputation for accuracy. It remains a popular vermin or "varmint" cartridge at short and medium ranges with preferred bullet weights of 40–55 grains and muzzle velocities from 3,000 to 3,500 ft/s (915–1,067 m/s).
