Hubert was a friend of mine and I always made sure we both had the same weekends at the St Hubert club. He always outshot everyone on the range when we checked our rifle's were sighted in O.K. And he held court whenever he was there in the evenings. He knew more about deer management than any other member, and was a font of knowledge to those who asked him for his opinion. Sadly his health failed in later years and the trip to Norfolk from his home became too much. At my last meeting with him at the club he had bought along several boxes of 243 and 270 for me, as he knew I reloaded all my rounds, and was amused at me sorting through the spent cases. A great character and a friend of mine, sadly he lost his ability to walk, and bought mobility scooter to get around. His became the scourge of all who didn't get out of his way when he beeped his hooter. He didn't suffer fools gladly, his words, and I was a friend of his and miss his company around the table after a days stalking at Thetford. deerwarden
