Just wondering where is stag1933 as he's being offline for a long time,a few years to be precise.I liked reading his posts,he was getting on a bit last i heard so was just curious is he keeping well!

Hubert Hetherington passed away several years ago.
I had the pleasure of meeting and stalking with him from the early 00's, when he was in better health and could manage to get down to the flat lands of Norfolk .

An outstanding character, he did not take fools gladly. He used the word 'bloody' as a punctuation mark, and talked with authority and knowledge. Even though whip thin - more fat on a butchers pencil - and tall, he had pulled more stags off the hill then any man I know.

Some on here knew him much better than me. A great man, great stalker and photographer.
Sadly missed.

Always a pleasure to talk to, and do business with and don't forget bhis budgies.

Hubert was a friend of mine and I always made sure we both had the same weekends at the St Hubert club. He always outshot everyone on the range when we checked our rifle's were sighted in O.K. And he held court whenever he was there in the evenings. He knew more about deer management than any other member, and was a font of knowledge to those who asked him for his opinion. Sadly his health failed in later years and the trip to Norfolk from his home became too much. At my last meeting with him at the club he had bought along several boxes of 243 and 270 for me, as he knew I reloaded all my rounds, and was amused at me sorting through the spent cases. A great character and a friend of mine, sadly he lost his ability to walk, and bought mobility scooter to get around. His became the scourge of all who didn't get out of his way when he beeped his hooter. He didn't suffer fools gladly, his words, and I was a friend of his and miss his company around the table after a days stalking at Thetford. deerwarden

I always enjoyed reading his posts and we corresponded a bit on twins in red deer , he was one of the few people with
proof of twins in wild red deer or at least the possibility of them he discovered twin foetus in a red hind he shot in the
lake district and had the photographic evidence to prove it.
This was of great interest to me as in the 1980s I was involved in a scientific study involving several estates over a three year period to record instances of twin foetus in hinds shot in spite of several thousand hinds being culled in the
period not one case of twins was found.
While there have been a few cases of twins in park and farmed red deer it is an extremely rare occurrence in wild red
deer.
the late Lea MacNally had a hand reared tame but free ranging hind that give birth to twins he and Hubert also
communicated on this occurrence and ended up becoming friends.

Sad to hear he had passed away,we're losing to many of the old boys with a lifetime of experience and knowledge,he will be sorely missed on this site!
