Bullet Heads used in Sako Superhammerhead .308?

For example “I want to sell a box of 150 grain Sierra Gameking heads” is quite clear and needs no correction

Qu-ite clear...but “I want to sell a box of 150 grain Sierra Gameking bullets” is clearer and unequivocal.

What do you see as the advantage in using “heads” or “bullet heads” to describe bullets? What is lacking with “bullets”?

And there you have it.

If I were being unkind I'd also point out its unlikely Sako's sales are negatively impacted as a result of The Staling Directory's abhorrence of the term "head"!

K

Straightforward brand range naming convention surely?

If you look back at the quote from Sako at #13 They do not use the word “head” or the phrase “bullet head” to describe their bullets so why should we?

Following Sako’s lead they are simply Gamehead bullets.

“Gamehead heads” is very uncomfortable for me.

Nothing whatsoever, but equally how does “bullet head” subtract from your understanding of a sentence where the term bullet would make it crystal clear? This whole head thing is just getting a bit tedious

Well obviously when trying to distinguish between the soft point, polymer tip or the opposite end from the boat tail or flat bottom of a bullet.

Tedious? Maybe. @Woodsmoke referred to it as a running forum gag.

I am always surprised at the number of people who take the trouble to post in support of either “bullet heads” or “heads” let alone their rationale.

Surely bullets have a meplat or tip and a heel ....... oh no here we go again!!

Surely that should read “Surely bullet heads have a meplat or tip and a heel.... :)

Looking at @CarlW ‘s post above which quotes another stalker’s naming convention of hind/doe, buck/stag it is interesting that if somebody uses that incorrectly, and is then subsequently corrected, there are no posts saying “get a life we all know what is meant”.

So I wonder why those who prolong a “heads” thread take the trouble to say “who cares!” when it comes to bullets?

Have not used the Sako 150gr Superhammerhead much but initially thought they were very similar in bc and performance to Federal Fusion. Could the bullet be made by Federal?
edi

Since SAKO make much of the Federal branded ammunition for the European market it seems very plausible. If so perhaps the Fusion bullet is actually made by SAKO?

how come no one jumped on the guy asking about 243 bullets in another thread? he clarified by saying not into reloading, surely he meant 243 rounds, but all were silent

Because he (@bendavies7 ) was asking about the bullets used in .243 ammunition. He was using 100gr and asked it there was a better/less damaging bullet available in factory ammunition (he specifically said - not home loads).
@FISH BOY suggested Sako Gameheads and @Primate suggested he start the journey into reloading (which he highly recommended).

The OP never mentioned 'heads' or 'bullet bodies' or 'gunpowder' and if he follows @FISH BOY 's advice will soon become competent in a new skill, helped by the advice from people in this group and using the right terminology too :thumb:

Sorry not me.

Have pals that reload and it seems a hobby in itself so don’t at the moment. Being an avid angler making specialist rigs for decades I’m sure I will enjoy it, but just can’t spare the time at the moment.

One day, but in the meantime will buy in batches. ;)

Thanks for giving @Miki the "heads up" on this Fishboy :thumb:
