May be true but now the police know that no disputes will result in basc taking legal action, which surly is not good news.Kid the only thing it covered was “unfair refusals and revocations of firearms certificates” then it sounds like a good decision to me. I wonder how many of those cases were won (even the ones brought). I’d guess damn few. Socialising a million pound a year cost across the membership to let 75 people try and mostly fail to get a certificate reinstated is a bit ludicrous.
The real problem there is the licensing system- it seems to make it far too hard to come back against refusal of certificates for bad reasons.
Do you know of any incidences when BASC have taken legal action against the police? Most CC know they are a toothless dog and simply refuse to engage with themMay be true but now the police know that no disputes will result in basc taking legal action, which surly is not good news.
Personally no, however now the police know it will definitely never be the case, does that help us?Do you know of any incidences when BASC have taken legal action against the police? Most CC know they are a toothless dog and simply refuse to engage with them
I'm a former member, I may join again if you could assure me you are lobbying MP's for the return of the "since your last application" wording regarding the medical questionnaireIf you are a BASC member and have any queries or feedback about BASC's notice regarding legal expenses insurance please email me at conor.ogorman@basc.org.uk with your membership number and I will ensure that someone gets back to you.
Little point when you have already made the decision to end the cover on the 31st July. Cannot see you changing your mind just because you get a few emails. If you are a BASC member and have any queries or feedback about BASC's notice regarding legal expenses insurance please email me at conor.ogorman@basc.org.uk with your membership number and I will ensure that someone gets back to you.
As a long time member of BASC it is disappointing to find out about a material change to insurance cover via a Third Party, ie this site. I do see the note under news on the BASC website but no mention in the magazine that landed yesterday. I have sent a note to BASC Scotland about this so will look forward to an explanation. I do note that very few other organisations offer this cover but the change, if it has to happen, could have been handled better. If you are a BASC member and have any queries or feedback about BASC's notice regarding legal expenses insurance please email me at conor.ogorman@basc.org.uk with your membership number and I will ensure that someone gets back to you.
Might just gain an org with some balls though .....I don't see this cover listed in other policies e.g. SGA or SACS. So you can leave BASC and go somewhere else but you still wouldn't gain that policy. At least from what I can see
Lacking in most of them unfortunatelyMight just gain an org with some balls though .....
Not allLacking in most of them unfortunately
Only ludicrous if you are not one of the ones trying to get their certificates back. If it only gets justice done for one person then I think it is worth it.Kid the only thing it covered was “unfair refusals and revocations of firearms certificates” then it sounds like a good decision to me.
