The model numbers are actually the weight.Clever marketing.
The one advertised as 280 Titanium (which you would think is the lightest one) is actually heavier and shorter than the 269.
Exactly. The model numbers are actually the weight.
Was it a b###er to get apart after that many rounds ? I haven’t put that many through mine buts it’s seized. Any ideas ?
Eh, speak upGod it’s way easier not using a mod. Nothing worry about but that sweet high pitched ringing in my ears![]()
What???!! LolEh, speak up
I think they look awful....
All moderators over time will suffer gas cutting and corrosion if exposed to the elements and high pressure hot gases (so anything that’s used on a firearm outside)
Treat them as disposable (like barrels) and reduce some expectations that they will last forever (they won’t)
Pick a mod that suits your needs and the design - in my view the solid heavy designs will outlast thin walled light design types
Soak the joint in WD40 by wrapping a cloth soaked it with WD40 then use two rubber “Strap wrenches” in opposite directions to undue it, worked on mine now I undue it regularly and ensure the threads have graphite grease on themWas it a b###er to get apart after that many rounds ? You are correct I apologise!I actually know for a fact that it is the case. The mod in question had a catastrophic failure.
Would you be more specific please? Is there a source?I actually know for a fact that it is the case. The mod in question had a catastrophic failure.
Yup friends partner had one blow up in her face (FC ranger), trip to the hospital, concussion and perforated ear drum, and a large bit of shrapnel in her boot. She had shot several deer that morning with no prior problems.I’m sure forestry England have also stopped using them due to failure. I’d be steering clear of them.
How did you get > 1 per rifle? My FEO says "no" I keep meaning to askI had a Dpt Magnum moderator with a stainless first baffle and was reasonably happy with it until I read the advertising blurb by F&D and other SD members.
Gullible I fell for it and 'needed' an F&D moderator eventually settling for their 280 magnum !!
I used both alternately on my 30-06 using PPU 180gn bullets and from the reports of the farm workers working in the area the Dpt came out quietest.
However to me, behind the gun ! there was no discernible difference between the two reports/noise.
I have yet to try the F&D on my .308 but I reckon I will stick to using the Dpt on my 30-06 and use the F&D on the .308, as for weight there was not any noticeable difference to me.
I think if I could get an F&D threaded section in 1/2 " x 20 I would and use it on my .222 regardless of the other section being for a .30 calibre rifle.
I‘m sure there was a police report or some other kind of investigation as to the cause of this incident. What was the result?Yup friends partner had one blow up in her face (FC ranger), trip to the hospital, concussion and perforated ear drum, and a large bit of shrapnel in her boot. She had shot several deer that morning with no prior problems.
