What vehicle do you use for stalking or management?

I was mulling over getting one of these or a "classic" sj. I wondered about how/where you fit long guns in it? Mate has a new Jimny and they go in the back diagonally, but they're a bit bigger I think.
Easy peasy. Put a board/plank across the arches right down to the back of the front seats and you have a two storey beast. I have had 4 f/b rifles incl. a Mosin 91/30 (longest rifle ever unless you know different) all in slips, in it on a range day. My earlier pigeon day post has a semi auto browning and an o/u in the “lower deck”.

Over the years, series 2 and 3 Landrovers, 2 and 4 door rangerovers, early discovery and probably the best being a couple Suzuki SJ410s, they’d wind their way between trees in woodland easily.
using a Fiat panda 4x4 these days, not doing quite as much ;)

Only so dodgyknees may ramp-up his disdain for the manufacturer & model in question:
Ken, are you not brave enough to tag me properly?!

Your dinky toy looks quite nice! The kind of Land Rover I actually like, one that has (out of necessity) been completely rebuilt with much improved aftermarket parts so that it ends up more “Mark Evans” than Solihull. And actually goes.

I’d love to know how many hours you put into the detailing… er… why? It looks like a museum piece.

10 year old 3.0L Ford Ranger Wildtrak, runs like a dream, now done 117k milage. Pretty good off road and tows extremely good.

I’ll look into this tagging malarkey as it’s not something I’m familiar with.

As for the “detailing” it’s helping me while away the time it’s taking to sell one or two items in the SD Classifieds.

Best value proper off-roader, and also a very comfortable motorway cruiser, is the Toyota Landcruiser 'Commercial Utility' - available in both SWB and LWB. Strangely not on the Radar of most off-road / Stalking enthousiast. (But very popular in all the worlds trouble spots in tough conditions...) . If you can find an almost new low Mileage 2021 model you'll get the newly upgraded '21 engine (2.8 Ltr.) with more power but more fuel efficient than the '20 or before models. Only drawback is just 2 front seats - the rear seats and all the unnecessary electronic luxuries have been stripped out, hence the 'Utility' label. You'll get TWO of these for the price of ONE Landrover! A no-brainer in my view.
I've just ordered the active lwb commercial you never hear a bad word about a landcruiser

26 year old Lux,I am in it every day and the free wheeling hubs haven't been out for years. Pulls deer out of the bush, tows dead cows,,carts wood, dogs, dead things, tows others out of bogs, tows trailers, log splitter etc Climbs hills like a goat, eats snowy mountains. Carts mates around hunting. blah blah
Devours wombat burrows as below,I mention that as 95% of the modern 4wd`s would be breaking springs/axles dropping into wombat burrows at paddock speed whereas these old lux`s rarely break anything!
Old rattler is rough but for on farm/bush work the 'others' dont compare.

A proper, rough and tough, go any where and just don't care vehicle.

VW transporter 4motoion LWB - big enough to keep the quad in the back with room for a dog and deer and no one can see what your carrying. High enough and very capable for off road and low enough to easily load big red stags on your own. Also got a A6 Allroad when I fancy a bit of comfort but have to use the trailer for when I require the quad and for reds.

Just bought Toyota Hilux MK8 as I thought this would be the perfect replacement for both the above but ended up selling it and keeping the VW and Audi. In pickups I much prefer the more refined ride of the Amarok and Ranger for long journeys compared to the Hilux and both my Transporter and Audi is a better drive and better MPG than the Hilux
