I’ll look into this tagging malarkey as it’s not something I’m familiar with.

As for the “detailing” it’s helping me while away the time it’s taking to sell one or two items in the SD Classifieds.

12 years old Freelander 2 as I mostly take roe/muntjac, it has to double as the family mass transport and I need to be able to cruise at motorway speeds without being deafened/frozen/having my fillings shaken out! I’ve found it’s off-road abilities quite impressive having had 90’s and RR previously

I have a Fiat fullback. Same as the l200 but cheaper! We have a smallholding so it doubles up on duties for that and I have also mounted a solar panel on the load bed top and a leisure battery in the back for when I sleep in it stalking and as a mini campervan.

Your dinky toy looks quite nice! The kind of Land Rover I actually like, one that has (out of necessity) been completely rebuilt with much improved aftermarket parts so that it ends up more “Mark Evans” than Solihull. And actually goes.

I’d love to know how many hours you put into the detailing… er… why? It looks like a museum piece.

17 year old Disco 2, Buddhist version ( the one with everything).
It’ll take me 3 or 4 mates plus our gear and dogs, cruises at or about motorway speeds, has leather heated seats that still work, doesn’t leak much and starts on the button.
When it doesn’t start, parts are cheap as chips and I can generally fix it myself.
I tried the Defender, couldn’t get on with it, tried a couple of Rangies and loved them but parts are expensive and you’re wasting your time without a computer for anything after the P38, so Disco for me.
Its also creeping up in value, not as good as a Defender or classic Rangie but sneaking up a bit. You can still bag a half decent one for 5K ish.

Just bought Toyota Hilux MK8 as I thought this would be the perfect replacement for both the above but ended up selling it and keeping the VW and Audi. In pickups I much prefer the more refined ride of the Amarok and Ranger for long journeys compared to the Hilux and both my Transporter and Audi is a better drive and better MPG than the Hilux

I am rapidly coming to think even the comfort levels and fuel consumption of the hilux would be heaven compared to the landy..... and theres 19% off for BASC members. Possibly even worth rejoining....

I'm on my second Jimny , 7 years old, 25K Miles, it does what it says on the box.
Removed rear seats, put a marine ply floor in, lined with chequer plate.
1" spacers on the hubs, BFG AT tyres,
I can get 2 Fallow prickets in it, but big bucks .... only one. ( Call for help with transport if I'm lucky)
Lift gantry was built by a local (very) skilled marine fabrication welder, and last year made an extension to facilitate lift height for fallow bucks and get them completely off the deck for gralloch.
It will do for me.

Shogun Sport. Cavernous inside as I’ve only got the front two seats in there with a DIY drawer unit in the back (deer go in a plasterers bath in front of the dog cage), and very capable off road. However, it’s utterly dire on diesel consumption & acceleration leaves a lot to be desired.

I've had a few 4x4 vehicles for stalking/shooting....L200 was rubbish, got stuck in a muddy puddle on the very first trip..dragged out by the farmers tractor......too light on the back end for real off roading.......V6 24valve 3ltr Mitsy Challenger, was awesome., never stuck, and towed my boat and many other vehicles out the mire all over the UK....Grand Cherokee 2.5 diesel was great....low ground clearance I found, but bottom end torque was great in low 4 wd....Nissan Terrano 11 which I just scrapped was very surprisingly good .....it was only pulled out twice by my Suzuki Grand Vitara.....the best of the bunch so far as I'm concerned....all these cars are long gone, and I'm now using a lowly 2.2 d Nissan X Trail, with decent tyres, which is a must.... for my creeping around the permission...its only on the one farm as its not got an MOT etc etc...this particular farm has app 4 miles of track and many miles of fields to be covered, not had it long, but love the heated seats....

Yeah, was the first trip out this year. We were actually out a lot further north, but not too much sign that trip. Looking at a new area and it just didnt pan out.
