6 years for possession of sawn off shotgun and cartridges.

That's a substantial punishment... I'm guessing there's more to it, i.e. the offender isn't just a gun collector that had one shotgun too many, instead there was probably the intention of committing a serious crime with the firearm.

It was a sawn off , he should've been given longer. He only had the gun for one reason, to commit violent crime or an act of terrorism.

More than likely a wrong un.
But.
If you ever did need something to defend yourself in your home against another wrong un with bad intentions?
Just recently was sent a real vid where a couple up in Scotland got ran through with a gang with machetes.
Sickening.
Bet they would risk having this about them.

He had a sworn-off shotgun in his flat - of course he was a 'wrong un'.

Unlawful possession of firearms, and it seems to me you may be seeking to 'excuse it', on the basis that the offender moves in 'certain circles'.

Here is some other advice for him:-

Dumb drug dealer... most seem to be going down the route of being armed with "attack" trained bulldog/pitbull mash-ups, this chap was "Oldskool" having a shooter. What's it all come to

Where did the weapon come from? Stolen? Turned up from a previous awful situation? What was it? S/S, Single Barrel, Auto,O/U, Is it traceable? 12b,20b.16b,410,?

BC.

Why do these cases take so long to come to court, November 2019 to July 2023 where has he been since in custody? or out potentially being a risk to the public.

had possession of the weapon and cartridges at a property in the Lochend area of the city on November 22, 2019

Exactly my thoughts. It’s not like he was holding granddads old pop gun as a keepsake.

Sometimes you really have to question our legal service it’s like those oiks who carry those machetes and such for obviously nefarious reasons.

We used them in my old game with Hatton rounds, to blow a vehicle's tyres, after a "hard stop".
Granted - I've a friend in that world - but were they "possessed" by you, as opposed to you using them on a temporary basis for that operational requirement? (....and I appreciate I could be going through the looking-glass here, with definitions & interpretations galore.... but what the flip, I have a lengthy train commute to fill 🤪)

I acknowledge it was what I inferred, but the post leant towards individuals being in ongoing ownership for legitimate reasons. But, like the man in the orthopaedic shoes, I stand to be corrected.....
