Home office consultation on deregulating sound moderators

That would save so much hassle.

I think without any increased risk to the public, we could have bands and you apply for a rifle in a band and category,

I.e. target, hunting or a combination of both, then provide a need for a band, which could be allocated:

1. Rimfire rifles up to .22 bore
2. Centrefire rifles up to .22 bore
3. Centrefire rifles up to .30-06
4. Magnum and medium bore rifles up to 375 H and H
5. Big bore rifles I.e 404 etc
6. High powered target rifles such as .338 lapua or .50BMG

In my system, you could then change on a one for one basis within your band. Would save so much admin.

I think the easiest way to drastically reduce the number of firearms would be to allow .22 centrefire for roe in England. I know so many people with a .222 for fox and Scottish roe and a .243 for English roe only.

Sorry for the diversion from the thread!

Swedish system simplifies it even further and puts all firearms (including shotguns) into just three categories - they do however have three different hunting exams to complete if you want to own all three

Edit: forgot to say they recently dropped moderators from needing licences too.

I thought you had to show at least a SGC to buy primers.
The legislation is the 2006 violent crime reduction bill and it only applied to primers for metallic cartridges or case incorporating a primer but did not apply to 209 shotgun primers. Also you cannot use a SGC to buy metallic primers.

Not recorded on ticket, but a ticket must be shown.
How about powder? SGC must be shown to buy any 'smokeless' powder?

Any news on a likely outcome of this? All has gone quiet for a few months? Will the change in Government put this in jeopardy now?

I wouldn't be surprised, although hopefully the police will argue for it, taking away any admin boosts the numbers for something else.

wrong government to do any thing good ! they just like holding the country to ramson for their own benefit

In response to the recent outrage in Southport

Governments love a good knee jerk reaction. Can’t ban knives as they are already banned, can’t ban nutters for the same, can’t ban little kiddies but you can ban Taylor Swift and the cause of Taylor Swift. Getting these evil swifts off our streets by taxing those who enjoy a bit of harmless Taylor Swift on their day off is the only way to stop serious misuse of Taylor Swifts. A strict licensing regime will be introduced allowing chief Constables to buy a jag and helicopter whilst enforcing strict security standards where users of Taylor swift undergo a psychiatric evaluation and are forced to lock their Taylor swifts away from the hands of minors!

Obviously at their own expense

Out of the box thinking here.I

Has anyone noticed that these rioters seem to wear football shirts, "jobbie catchers" / track suit bottoms, and hoodies . If the Government were to ban these garments, there would be no riots.

Then with the idiots at home, naked, scouring EBay for something to wear, there would be ample time to decertify moderators, and get Renewals / Grants done on time.

Sorted!!

What a load of nonsense.
" We advise to not weaken existing firearms law" whilst admitting criminals already have access to firearms....🤦.

No organisation in this stupid country ever stands up for the law abiding and says why should the legitimate use of whatever be hampered by illegal activity.

The mindset of the British never ceases to frustrate.
