How many deer do you shoot in a season

I started in April and have taken 3 myself so far this year.....hoping to get another one or two before the year end. I am lucky enough to have been able to start going out as a helper with a really experienced stalker quite regularly, so hoping my increasing experience will pay off next year. I am aiming to sign up for DSC2 and the LANTRA course, as I also really enjoy the butchery side of things as well..... If I could cover costs on some of the expenses by selling a small amount of venison, that would be cool as well, but family and friends consume a lot! Mostly Fallow near me, but my first 2 were Roe, taken down in Dorset.

Reading through the comments, I am sure that many more topic categories could be made up by the Admin.
Ego - Deer shooting - Deer Stalking - Saviours of the countryside to name a few.
Personaly, my admiration is reserved for the stalkers that do a moral and ethical cull on their respective ground; stalking the deer and assessing what needs to be taken out. I appreciate that herding deer, especially fallow in the southern belt are covering vast areas and sometimes aggressive culling needs to take place when you manage to catch up with them but kudos through notches on your stock in my opinion quite vulgar.
In game shooting, keepers that rear many, many thousands of birds and who brag about shooting nearly every day of the week are not also in my opinion good. I have more respect for a smaller release number estate, with the keeper using his skill to manipulate the birds over the guns in a timely manor.

My opinion but carry on bragging chaps!

I don’t shoot many now, 6-10 a year for personal consumption. All roe, I like to kid myself that I know where and what deer are on my ground, what I would like to shoot and what I would like to leave. Then reality kicks in and deer appear that I have never seen before and others disappear. T’was ever thus.

I have no problem with guys that hit big numbers.
But if you brag about it expect it to pi$$ people off 🤣
I'd much rather have an interaction with a humble guy that puts only a handful through his own freezer..
Those guys that do plenty don't usually mention numbers 😉

I don’t really see anyone bragging here really? Someone asked a question and people answered 🤷🏼

A very specific acronym that I’ve only ever heard from US colleagues!
If you are referring to BLUF, it's now in common use within UK Services having migrated from our US friends:

Although, its not in the outdated JSP101 or 2023 DCDC replacement:

Heaven's forbid, even I, a Service Writing scarred veteran, was forced to use it very recently for a high-level brief to seniors (with limited time available) as to why I wasn't prepared to certify a national asset :scared:

What makes you think that the people who have responded aren't already doing this and also answering the ops question?

I think a lot also depends on how well you play by the rules. I have been stalking down South in the home counties over the last few days. Just one Muntjac doe to show for my efforts. I could have easily shot at least another Muntjac buck, could have been three as well as a couple of Roe Does. The Muntjac were just over the fence and the does were in an open field with a main road 100 yards behind. I would have been shooting down into the ground and I could have waited for a gap in the traffic and it probably have been fine, and probably no one would have noticed a muntjac taken just over the boundary. But ……..

I am also sure deer have grown a lot heavier in the last five years, and what would have an easy carry is now just bloody hard work so possible deer are left for another day!

My tally for this year at home will be zero as I didn't draw any deer tags. I drew a bull elk tag and after driving hundreds of miles scouting and walking dozens of miles hunting, didn't even see any bulls on public land before the season ended. I do have a long season, private land only, cow elk tag good until Jan 31 that still gives me hope.
