THAC Copper Bullets

Hopefully get these test loads shot Thursday 🙏🏼 been sat loaded for a while! Think being self employed it would be easy 🙄 busy time in the equestrian calendar!

Went for 2.955 col as its max length in the metal MDT mag... see how we go! 6.5 prc, N565, 122 grainers
Im using N555

They will stand a significant jump

So you do not have to worry about mag length - so long as powder capacity is not compromised

Northallerton shooting and countrywear have THAC in stock... give them a ring and ask for Dave, he'll tell you what's what.

Is n565 not a bit slow for the 120? Id have thought 560/165 would probably see more velocity. Stick the results up when you have tested them

Have you had chance to test them yet ?
Yes, best group was .4" which was early on in the charge weight test and produced 2910 fps with an SD of 3.1 over 4 shots, 57 grains of N565.

Groups opened up somewhat and in between there and final charge of 58.5 which saw 3033, .9" group, SD of 9.4, 4 shots.

Could definitely push more, no signs of pressure, did a quick charge weight test with N165 to see if that would push them a wee bit faster but wasn't alot in it... just a single shot of each charge weight over the chrono to see what that powder would do.

I have found over testing quite a few lead and non lead loadings, hand loaded and factory ammo that the 24" barrel on my rifle, a Tikka Ace game, brand new last July/Aug time seems to be particularly slow.

Definitely would like more speed, and barrel is likely due a good scrub out at this point.

Mulling over some different powders currently, limited supply in my neck of the woods!

If your not getting any pressure signs i would be tempted to push harder , your deffo down on FPS , go it a go 👍

@farrieral

Hello buddy , ive put your reply here as i cant send pictures via DM

Here is my final load data , i actually got just over 3300 fps . No pressure but load was starting to compress due loading COAL 2.955 because of magazine length , the bullet shank sat quite deep .

I believe i started off at 53 grn

I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS LOAD IN YOUR RIFLE .
