how do you tell if a rifle is "shot out"

Not questioning your judgement, Amigo, just wondering.
We shoot vermin to as far as one would want to shoot at them here and I know that the more accurate the rifle, the better the chances. Of course, the wind pretty much negates much of the degree of accuracy you get on paper, so the looong shots are on game we can afford to miss!:-D~Muir

You are right, at least with an accurate rifle I know it was me if it doesn't work..no excuses.
The good thing is our deer don't seem to like wind that much and are mostly found in sheltered areas. I prefer to leave tricky shots to long range crows. I enjoy shooting my 20" 1/13 Bartlein barrelled 308 at the moment. it will take quite a while until I get the drop chart 100% sorted. This week I shot at just shy of 800m in our steep cliffs on the Atlantic. Wind is an issue there, especially up-down winds. Great fun to see impact after or at the end of the recoil. The barrel seems to stabilize the 168's at that distance.

You crazy Canuks need to come to town more often.
Say! I looked at my lists. Your 1895 rifle was made in 1918 if Winchester is correct in their records. Mine is 1920 something, I think. I really don't remember.~Muir

Where I live, 'town' is usually classified as a gas station that sells groceries, a church, and a liquor store at a cross road. The libs live in the City, silly man.~Muir

Must've gone through Montana on the way up there.....~Muir

Nope only ever been to Florida Gulf coast side then some 20 years later to Missouri. The town we went to Milan in Sullivan County is quite small and sort of resembles you post. It has about half a dozen outlets in all.
