dont ask someone if they have permission

On this occasion and with the benefit of hindsight, what do you think now? Would you do it again if faced with similar circumstances?

I came across something similar a few weeks ago, saw 3 guys aged 18-20ish with a lurcher walking across one of my fields when out cycling. Instant reaction was to confront them. I have no issue within reason in dealing with aggression or challenging folk like this, but 3 of them? the thought of getting a kicking was not as much of a concern as them having the opportunity to go away and make up a story about me. thought better of it and phoned the polis'. I then found out who they were with a wee but of local digging...

I think what Jamross is saying is that we have to live the way the world is; rather than the way it should be - so whilst you were right to challenge them morally, in reality it resulted in you being assaulted... A good female friend of mine was raped a few years ago, now she should be able to show off her legs and go outside for a cigarette in safety but the reality was there are some monsters out there that simply need putting down!

For the record, I would have done as you'd done as I don't see why I should fear everyone who feels like doing wrong, and I'd rather be dead than live in fear of scumbags all the time. However if I'd had my girlfriend with me I'd have walked the other direction for fear of her being assaulted.

Like some of the local guys have offered,I too would have no problem going out with you, just up at Overtown.

Regards

i got sucker punched in my local once and felt like a prize idiot.took me ages to get back on par.now its not me who can't go in the pub any more and its not me who is scared every time i go out i will be recognised.
carma will take care of this for you.chin up and give it a few weeks.you will be fine

I think its a sad day when you cant ask some one what they are up to but that is the way it is. I had two chaps with lurchers approach me in easterhouse one was local one was from larkhall. Both were not happy that there sport (deer coursing had came to an end) They did start with threats but after a bit of banter about lurchers and terriers they left with information that they could be managing the deer if they got there act together.

Yep, pretty much what I was trying to put across. Utopia does not exist...

One thing I have learned though, is they are always hard as nails when in a group, and at some point they will meet someone bigger and tougher than them. with their attitude Brian take solice in the fact that they will get theirs...

Just a pity it will happen when you are not around to watch. ;)

having had my fair share of kickings throughout my life, and a big scar on my face to show for it, i can honestly say, never dwell on it because it'll haunt you forever. i got my face smashed in by around 15 blokes when i was 19, if i hadnt gone back out the weekend (stiches n all) i would have probably never gone again.

sounds like there just a pair of scrubbers really who's seen you as a threat and cracked you. if you see them out again (which i doubt VERY much) ring some mates and get them down.. even if you think its morally wrong and you "shouldnt rise to their level" a good beating teaches people lessons..

chin up, swallow and get back out there. once you've climbed that big psychological wall your over it..

how serious is it to be on ground without permission ?

Brian, the quote above how serious, answer ,how serious are the police dealing with it, should give you the answer.

If there not giving any hope or have any interest in dealing with the incident, i wouldn't bother with it get on with the shooting and learn from it .

Deal with such things from afar, ask the landowner who else is shooting the ground is a start, i have ground there that has another 4 guys that shoot it, Ive never seen them yet ,if i ever do see them I'll give them a wide berth, I'm only interested in the deer nothing else, and as we all know deer don't like noisy shotgun shooters .

Forget this I'm packing it in crap, thats just crap and you know it get the gun and go for a walk, how many time have you cut a carpet wrong have you packed that in No learn from it ,the world is full of Muppet's ,theres plenty of them got guns as well you've just got to get on with your own life .

Id have said nowt and kept walking as soon as you got home or to a phone id have contacted the police that way hopefully the idiots would have still being about when the police turned up !

That is terrible, i learnt from a old keeper to take some pictures with your mobile befor you go anywhere near them, or nowadays dont go near them and pass photos to the police very sad timeswe live in now lots of friends here including myself to get you up and feeling better

simple answer do not approach them call the old bill, these poachers are often criminals involed with all sorts of crime alot bigger than armed trespass !!!!!

got that info from a AR copper that came to me, when i had several problems with poachers

BE WARNED ALWAYS TAKE THE SAFE OPTION hard i know but sensible

sorry to hear about your trouble.
being assulted by two armed blokes must get the old bill to pull out all the stops (?) Hope they catch the *ankers.

ive been "advised" to withdraw my alligation of assault, as " if arrested they could turn the tables on me and insist i was the aggressor "

Nice to know the police are on our side and wont capitulate when they have work to do.! It does make you wonder what someone has to do to get arrested these days
