For my US mates hunt trip here he needed to do the International Visitor permit bullschitt so I said to him on the phone...
Mate I need a copy of your gun licence
WHAT FUGGIN GUN LICENCE (New Mexico,no such thing lol)
Advised Vic Police and they requested a letter from his local Sheriff as in 'old mates a good bloke etc'

I told Vic Pol "he`s in Iraq driving gas tankers out of Baghdad City and cant contact his sheriff"

Well someone has to vouch for him for a visitor permit

Pertinent point of this is that the WHAT FUGGIN GUN LICENCE is what it should be.

Tbh. - if love stalking and being out there doing what I love the most, but, if the licensing becomes prohibitive, I’ll survive with hill walking, fishing and gardening.

That said, it’s a bit of a storm in a teacup, because we know that without the local hunters, fox and deer control would be impossible on the thousands of small farms around the country, which would start spiralling RTA deer collisions, etc. if anything, I see shotgun related sports disappearing first, because in reality, there’s no need to manage anything with wings apart from possibly wood pigeon, and that’s a maybe.

Managing wood pigeon is definitely not a maybe in arable areas. You get flocks of 100s on emerging crops, they do a lot of damage.

He will have a medical history. Quite possibly an Army one. It's just a case of accessing it. I'd have thought that his medical history would follow him from doctors to doctors though, military or otherwise.

Or......maybe there's something in his older medical history that he doesn't want revealed. Although I'm probably being a bit over-suspicious there. Or possibly his current surgery has only reported on his history with them. But surely the FEO would then ask him to get his earlier history before completely turning him down.

No I don't think so - I requested my records from a similar period and was told they were unavailable/lost. Bear in mind it was the days of paper records...not on computer. They are notoriously bad at providing records, perhaps not helped by the hearing loss, vaccinations, Gulf Syndrome, cold injury, compensation claim culture. Yesterday one popped up on Facebook, offering claims for military bullying....a nasty Colour Sergeant once threatened that if I didn't straighten my arm when marching he was going to rip it off and beat me to death with the soggy end, and a friend's head was going to be ripped off and he was going to defecate down the hole.....can you imagine the trauma....must be worth a few quid....

Army. I had to do it. Took a while.

"a friend's head was going to be ripped off and he was going to defecate down the hole." I was also threatened with that, as were most of my RAF Apprentice contemporaries! The old style DI could be very imaginative with their threats and abuse, in those days all taken in good spirit.
