well it will bring more volume in moderator sales to the dealers and more sellers / more makers equals lower cost . The dealers and makers will open up as you wont need to be an RFD to sell or post . Cannot think how such a move would put the prices up ? I mean , there will be folks offering them on e-bay etc . Btw airgun moderators like for like have always been way cheaper for these reasons

Depends, they may do as metalic primers are sold, face to face only via an RFD but not on ticket.

Won’t make bugger all different to price.
Those who want a mod already have one, the new mod market is modest. I reckon any savings in deregulation affecting the trade will just go as profit, and we’ll pay the same.

Will allow for a second mod, I know i would like to see if a better one was available for one of my rifles but cannot be bothered to go through the process of a variation either one for one or additional when it may take weeks or even months to complete. Was going to patiently wait until next renewal.

A bit late now but all those making comment the biggest issue is the work load it would remove from the overstretched firearms licensing departments enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.

whatever i dont see costs rising at all and its a better system , My FEO mentioned this was going to happen about 6 months back . Think she said the villains aint using them and as we know they aint exactly silent and being used by the drug gangs

Sound moderators intended for use on non-FAC airguns are covered by the same act (VCRA 2006) you are talking about for primers. Air rifle sound moderators count as a componant part under this act and if sold by a dealer i.e. by way of business, the transaction must be face to face.
So it wouldn't make sense to have one law stating air rifle moderators must be face to face (via way of business) and then have nothing if they are intended for firearms. You would just then have people selling air gun mods as rimfire mods, negating that act completely via a loophole and making it a pointless part of that act, for its original intended purpose. So they will no doubt have to consider removing the part in that existing act or more likely it will remain and reference firearms intended moderators, it will be covered in the amendment made to the Firearms act as part of removing sound moderators (intended for firearms use) from "firearm classification" or an amendment made elsewhere. If indeed this does go through of course.

Encouraging to see interest in the proposals, which have been hard fought for, by BASC and British Shooting Sports Council, over many years, to get to this stage, key being support from Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP, BASC VP and chairman of the All-Party Group on Shooting and Conservation and Jonathan Djanogly MP, Chairman of BSSC, for the regular representations they’ve made to the Home Office and others in government.

There have been a few cynical comments that this is not what is seems, and I can fully understand the reasons for that, given the history, but I can assure those members that this has been considered in detail as outlined here:
