Pard 007 SP2 4k

Good question - never really saw the need for high magnification myself but if I get a minute later I will try it, record it and post here.

Right then…
Scope Minox 3-9 with no parallax; used a house (250yds away) as focal point as brickwork is good for demonstrating picture clarity; dull but dry morning - probably not the best for filming and no focussing adjustments made, however….
First half is using the Minox zoom from 3 through to 9x with Pard on base mag setting only.
Second half is the Minox kept on 3x then using the Pard’s 5 click magnification settings.
See what you think…

The problem with rear add ons and non parallax scopes is not in day time use. Why would you even use add on during the day?
Now try the same test during the night, in black and white mode, using IR illuminator.
I believe zooming in scope magnification in such conditions will produce very blury picture.

Cheers

Well…. for recording special little moments like this…

“Now try the same test during the night, in black and white mode, using IR illuminator”.
There you go - an assortment out to just on 200yds with Pard 007 and an add on IR (Dragonfly from memory).

Both on a non-parallax scope and were the latter video’s animals foxes rather than what you can clearly see incl. zoomed, could I, would I, have taken the shot - you betcha!

Just to make something clear.
I have used original Pard007 with two non-parallax scopes for two years and I was more than OK with it.
But for full use of rear add on, parallax scope is must. And eventually I finished up by replacing both scopes with new ones, bot SF.
If I can see correctly your video, you have only used digital magnification on Pard007 and no optical magnification on riflescope.
This is common trick whit non-parallax scopes. And it works, to get a job done. But you still have to left optical magnification of riflescope at base level and only use digital one from add-on.

What kind of issues have you read about it so far?
LRF being blocked by high turrets was an issue with SP 2K version.
4K is slightly modified and we shall see, how it performs.
Some confusion here between the Alpex and the Pard by the looks of it

Indeed so but the point for me is the add on works on some non-parallax scopes more than well enough to take a night-time shot with confidence. I have done so very many times…

Mine just arrived. It don't come with the IR unit installed though, so it needs an external IR or you purchase one separately to go on the unit. Annoying. I didn't read the small print

Collected mine this morning. Only looked through it in daylight so far but wow, very sharp and clear through my element helix 2-16x50 hd. I’ll be getting behind it after dark asap with dark engine blade.

Looking at chimney stacks etc at 11 o’clock at 200 yds the clarity is as good as my hik 4k! Very pleased so far. The lrf splash is a bit off the box but not a problem. Can’t wait to get out on the foxes as soon as a few fields are cut.

No IR fitted? Are you sure you have the correct item:

Pard 007 SP2 4k

Yea, the SP2 4K units don't come with them, just the RF as standard. There around £60 for either the 850nm or 940nm, clip straight on. They are reported as being very good but as i have an IR (blade), why bother.

might go for the 850nm IR if your report is positive. although i normally use an external one , the built in one might be better in sometimes.

I would be interested in what clarity and range can be achieved with the built in ir, if anyone can update once tested.

I've found you've got 2 options depending on what you're shooting. For ratting with the .177 i had the 950nm onboard. For rabbits with the .17hmr I fitted an external IR torch as well. The onboard was set at flood and auto. The external was set at spot and 100yds and was switched off until I needed a long shot.
