Did the provider not offer an alternative. If they broke your contract and did not do anything to soften the blow then they probably were not of sufficient integrity to want to deal with anyway.

I dont like that atall...
If youve booked the services of any professional and they turn round and say somebody more important has been given your booking at the last minute then i certainly would be feeling really p*ssed off also..
If things are exactly as you say, to not be offered an alternative or a revised rate at your next visit then along with bad manners he is also totally lacking in moral fibre
Im sure if you hadnt turned up he would be expecting his payment still which in fairness he would be quite right to expect

Im afraid morals seem to have gone out of the shooting world and money talks these days. Name and shame to prevent someone else from being in the same position.

That really is a truly disgusting way to treat a cliant. I would find someone else and spend your hard earned money with someone that values their customers,

Sometimes the head stalker has no choice the estate will normally be owned by a rich person who lives else were. The set up states that if the owner turns up everything is put on hold till the owner leaves. If you have a full book then all you can do is cancel. Not nice but the head stalkers livelihood and home normally rely on these rich owners i know what i would have done had i been the stalker. Sorry but some one was going to be disappointed.

Thanks for all the advice but I will not be naming and shaming or going to the small claims court 
I think we all agree that this behaviour is poor and does not reflect well on any of us. I accept that, rightly or wrongly, the land owner takes priority but what really grates me is that I was doing all the calling. At what point was he going to call me and cancel ? I suspect never.
To be fair he called me an hour ago ( guilt ? ) to say he had managed to get me onto another estate that, thanks to the snow, is holding many beasts so Saturday should be good. Told me the price and then reminded me to give the guy a £50 tip ! Sometimes you just have to shake your head and say thanks, at least I am getting my day and my roe are getting a break

You only tip if you feel youve recieved the level of commitment you feel warrants a tip

Not good, tell him to invoice you an extra £50, his employer can sort out the tax and NI!!
I have relied heavily on tips through most of my working life, I hated it!! I would rather a decent wage , so I would not be reliant on someones cash to buy the kids x mas or tax the car. I've said it before, pay keepers a decent wage!!!!
Not everyone can afford £50 ON TOP of the bill. It puts the client in an awkward position and as a keeper found it quite degrading in this day and age.
I would rather a decent LIVING wage and a happy client giving me a bottle, buying a pint in the hotel or even better getting a letter or xmas card.
In fact, the box of choclates or flowers to the wife did wonders and I still treasure a Puma Game warden given to me when I was 17.
Going slightly off topic!
If Estates are going to be run as business enterprises ie sell stalking, then they have to act proffessionaly and VIPs skipping the que is not on. Name and Shame!!!!!!!!!
