Good evening all! I am waiting keenly for the Roe Rut to commence in the coming week or two. I am fascinated in the potential differential patters of commencement across these isles as well.

So, thought I would start a thread where people can post if they see signs of the rut starting (in any species, across the seasons, not just roe). No signs here in mid-Norfolk. It has been generally incredibly quiet in the trail cams for the last 2-3 weeks, almost nothing moving. The heat has not helped I guess on that front.

No sign here yet, but Its went very very quiet now after a few weeks of constant sightings of mature bucks I think over the next few days It will begin.

Seen a yearling buck chasing a doe at the start of the month but that's a pretty normal sight, not really rutting behaviour.

Not a crowd of deer here any way, not seen any' for weeks especially in this heat. (Roe & Muntjac)

Seen 3 pairs running so far and plenty clips sent from friends too including a couple in Norfolk.

too keen , another week of so, not of it continues to be hot they will rut at night.

Seen chasing but we’re still a week or two away

Peak rut in my part of the world is likely to be the first week in August. I have seen some paired up, but also bucks and does feeding solo this week. I am out tonight with a guest so will see what is moving. Took one last week that was following a doe, but all quite relaxed.

Did see one buck hard chasing a doe last week,they ran right up to me oblivious of my presence.

Out last night to try and move a buck. Never saw a Roe though I've seen the buck in that area on 3 days this week. Tried all calls, result one Muntjac buck and two Fallow does came for a look. Will keep seeing if I can raise him every two days, he's too good to shoot but keen on enticing him. Start elsewhere next week.

Quiet here. Gave a buck a few squeaks yesterday but not interested and just kept feeding

Just this morning watched buck & a doe do the deer dance of no pants
She was giving it the figure 8 he was giving it the figure 8
Stop he stopped nose about 6 inch of her
10 mins of synchronised walking then they walked it to cover
Nice to see

Same old, same old every year, as soon as July comes people are out with their calls trying their luck

The key to calling roe in the rut is -

Watch - they will tell you when

Place - make sure you are 100% in the bucks territory

Patience - sometimes it might take up to and over an hour to call a buck.

If your calling and their not rutting all your doing is educating them!

Not seen any here but last evening is first time out for about 3 weeks as too hot for me. Couple of Fallow and a Munty seen.

Nothing happening in Hampshire last night. Roe were moving very late, although the fallow came out to play considerably earlier.

2 culled last night, neither in company, I have no reason to think the rut won’t be as per usual.
