Selling all shooting equipment

The issue with some auction houses now is, for me, not the commission but that there is now such a delay between actually consigning an item and it going under the hammer that it's, literally, six months between taking the thing to the valuation day and it being finally entered in a sale and then the money arrivin in your account. I have items with two Eastern England based well known auction houses that have been there six months plus now as no space on the last two sales!

Sorry chaps. Just to clarify: This thread is meant to be a discussion about ways of selling a job lot as opposed to an actual advertisement for individual pieces.
I had adverts up for ages but nobody bought anything hence the reason for a bulk disposal.

If you had adverts up for ages and didn’t sell then you were asking too much money.
Or not enough people looked at the adverts.

I’m trying to give away a part worn tyre for FREE on here and nobody wanted it. They’re £175-200 new.
Probably asking too much money.
Presumably someone wants me to pay them to come and collect it and fit it to their truck.

You coulld try Holts they have firearms auctions and also shooting related equipment, they may take it all but as has been said you could be waiting a while for any proceeds.

I have given stuff to an RFD to sell on a commission basis. Just to get it out the door. Done that with motorbikes as well. Get a better price than an auction I think, but then I have never been to an auction.

your tyre whilst might be great, needs to go to someone local and they then need to find somebody to fit it. Some companies will not fit a tyre not supplied by them. But things like that would be better on a local Facebook page or facebay. I often use them for buying and selling.
I have a set of wheels and tyres for a Navarra and nobody wants them either. Such is life.

Don’t be disheartened, that ad for tyre is generous and if it was local just the sort of thing I would take up, it’s just having someone local who can use it

Is pack it all in your car and go take to Salisbury auction centre and let them sell everything in lots.

They pay out fast by transfer and are decent people. They remove your guns from license there and then if you want.

Sorry to hear you are selling up. If you want to PM each other about buying or selling go ahead.

I hope we still see you on the site mate.

I had a lot of dog training gear and few pheasant crates and feeders. As I'm not getting another dog I gave it all to a college that has a hunting department. By all accounts the stuff has been put to good use by the students and I didn't need to deal with the general public.

What’s the best way to get rid of a variety of guns, ammo, and general shooting equipment in one sale?
Does anyone have experience of auctions for that sort of thing?
I really don’t think I have time to split things up and post and package separately, even if it means inevitably losing money.
Holts auctioneers will sell nearly anything fieldsports related.

That sounds great! Very generous to donate that all to the college.
Unfortunately I think that if I rocked up at my local college with a bag full of guns and ammo I’d probably get shot to death by armed response police 🤣

The difficulty is in having several different calibres that someone would have to have slots for .243 .30-06 .375 and shotguns .
I just want it gone in one hit preferably. Looking for the most painless way out now
RFD commision Sale is your best move , dont even matter if your ticket expires .
it can be dangerous advertising firearms private, done it in the past a fair bit but wont do it now. Guns are harder to obtain in the criminal gangs now

Yes, not a great idea to go to the college with guns. Over 50 years of stalking I've amassed so much stuff so have started to have a thin out of the gear I no longer use.
My Heym-Ruger single shot I bought In 1979 is being past on to a new home in August. I've shot lots of deer with that rifle and certainly had my moneys worth out of it.
Now it lounges in my gun cabinet and I have better rifles suited to the type of hunting I do now. So the old girl is off to a new home where hopefully she will be used and enjoyed as much as I have had the pleasure over so many years.
