Up here we had to have the landowners written approval/agreement it was needed, otherwise it could not be justified and if caught, FAC could be withdrawn.
Yet the bloody politicians were carting around the country in expensive cars to their friends, family, and country estates - but they are allowed because they are above the working classes who need to bow to their superiority

Granted I am thinking of someone who drives 10 minutes to stalk so staying local was ok. Driving many miles or hours away would be harder to justify as "exercise". In Sussex we were stopping people, and some got tickets but that was people from London or further away who were driving down to the beach for the day, not staying local.
I suppose it's another argument for having deer stalker's local to the ground to keep up the chances of them attending, meeting a cull and being able to respond quicker to any needs that may arise and be expected of them to deal with as part of their agreement with the landowner.

I did nothing different to what I normally would do. I’m still alive today so it worked for me
If you did nothing different to normal you were either in a job that allowed that or you broke the law and risked your FAC! If it was the latter then

You were allowed to stay local and go out in the outdoors for exercise, including a walk. If people decided that meant they weren't allowed to go stalking locally then more fool them, especially when people were out in the same fields walking dogs, riding bikes, playing with kids in the woods etc.Where has anyone written that they "People didn’t go stalking in case they catch COVID?" on these pages?

I don’t know what will end up happening, I fully understand there are those who earn a living from deer and there are those who’s living is being wrecked by deer there seems to be no happy medium.
The fundamental basics are the same as they have been for the last decade or so
The herd species are out of control
No market for the carcasses (my opinion of freds In a shed are the same!)
Venison NEVER has been and NEVER will be a staple of the masses that is a FACT. (Well not on the last 20 odd years anyway)
But if something drastic doesn’t happen soon got knows what will happen.

There is a looming problem with fallow and red deer here in Sweden. On the hunting ground I'm a member of the fallow population has grown in just a few years. The hunt leader decided that there would be one mature buck to be shot. Names were put on a list and then a hunter was given two weeks to try and get the buck before the chance was given to the next hunter. The buck was to be shot after the rut. I've been trying to get my mate who is a land owner in the hunting team to get some does,fawns and prickets included in the bag on driven days.

If all you are shooting is one buck I give it two to three years and you will have a major problem which will be difficult to get back from,
