not so ihmo good whisky is best with a drop of water -- better still spring water without the chlorine that's in tap water .Adding a dash of water releases flavours you don't taste when drinking it neat -- ihmo .

:old:

Can't blame that on me, although I will be encouraging you with some Glenlivet 12 yr old and some of that single cask Glenfarclas I'll have shortly. Wee drop of water, cold or room temp, doesnae matter, although I think too cold numbs your mouth to the flavours.

Haha, look at you name dropping, Mal Maison, ooooooh, posh !!

Getting tore into a 12yr old Glen Dronach just now braw. There is no such thing as a bad whisky, just some are better than others best to try them all!!!

This thread is right up there with "what calibre shall I have". In for a penny. Best drop in a long time is the 30 year old glen Orin from aldi. Absolutely lovely and only £54.

I thought I'd try a "bourbon" that was recommended to me the other day, "Makers Mark" I think. Mare like "Skid Mark".
Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey is nice mind, but bears no resemblance to proper "scatch" as they'd say.

Brithunter has a point actually, whiskey being the correct spelling for that dishwater the yanks call bourbon, only good for cleaning drains.

Ian.

Whiskey is also the correct spelling for anything from the Emerald Isle, so I'd challenge anyone to call Bushmills or Midleton "dishwater"...

working yer way through...thats an hours worth, can beat the old morrangie
I know this will probably raise a debate. I'm not a whisky buff, but do enough a wee dram.
I've tried & really liked macallan & balvinne 15 year old.
Just working my way through a bottle of Bowmore islay malt.
Any other suggestions for a really good malt ?????.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Sorry, I'd read something into your agreement with Brithunter. He specifically said that there's no such thing as a good whiskey, which is patently pish...

Apologies
iain

No need to apologise my friend, tis the season of good will, i hope you will be enjoying a measure of your favourite just like i am right now.
:-D
Ian.

I love whisky and worked in the industry for 4 years hosting tastings and such . Been lucky to know some great people in the business and tasted some great stuff.

The best whisky is the one you like most which in my case is laphroaig quarter cask. I do also love
Glengoyne and just polished off the 21 year old. I find some of the big brands are starting to get pricey and often the independemt bottlers do cracking whiskies at better prices and single cask. One of the best ive had was Gordon and Macphail Stathisla 1957 . on that note im off to have a dram Finlaggan Islay malt. Good stuff and good value

Had a session trying different whisky's last night, bit rough today

Aberlour was one I liked most amongst others
