Which gaiters?

Have just broken my Harkila gaiters after a few good years' service.

Any opinions on the best brand with which to replace them?

Kind regards,

Carl

Berghaus yeti gaiters Carl had mine for ages 100% they go over your boots also. Mine were £30 2nd hand off eBay (royal marine issue).

How about making your own?
I've got a really good canvas pair that I've been using for 30 years. Still going strong, although I've had to do a few minor repairs. The construction of them is very simple, so if / when they do need replacing I intend to carefully unpick all the stitching and use the component parts as templates to make another pair.

I like the idea but it would become job number 847 on my list. I'm already a broken man, Tim...o_O

What he said. I got some brand new unissued ones for around the same price.
There’s a knack to fitting them. But I wore them beating went over the knee in the bog. The only thing that got wet was my knee. They protect the toes of your boots too unlike my other gaters. I don’t use them all the time but for heather moor or really muddy ground they are best. I don’t like welly’s never really have these do nearly the same but with the support of my favourite boots.

I’ve been using Monarch Munro gaiters for hill walking and they are superb - particularly the MK2 version with the beefier zip.

Yetis are fantastic for really foul weather/ground but you have to set a side a pair of boots and leave them on all the time.

Mine are OR (outdoor research) a well known make for climbers and mountaineering. I use mine for stalking, hill walking, winter mountaineering and ice climbing. Easily adjusted to different season boots and I’ve crossed burns many a time and kept dry feet (with a three season boot). They are not always easy to get in the uk but bags of European sellers on the web

Me too seem very robust but are in black which is the only potential downside as not a very hunting colour
