Which gaiters?

Regarding the Yeti's has anyone had much success in fitting them to a pair of Meindl Dovre Extreme?? I have used Yetis for years but they were only ever used with an old pair of Berghaus boots, in the end I used silicone to fit them to those boots. Currently using Mountain Hardware ones on the Meindl's but would prefer Yetis again if they are likely to stay on. Anyone??
I have them on my Meindl Dovre extreme boots mate... takes me around 35 minutes to fit one but once their on they stay there! The wife usually goes out when I try to fit them as it does get emotional shall I say. Parental guidance is a must!! Worth it in the end though

Macgaiters neoprene ones. No zips to break, dry feet but they are very warm. Mine are now into their 6th season of hill stalking and still sound.

I have the Fjallraven gaiters and reviewed them a while ago. Had to do some repairs and modifications already.

The top elastic drawstring came off one and the neoprene/rubber strap that goes underneath the boots hangs loose, had to secure them via press studs. Also picked up a few holes in them

Despite these drawbacks I would still recommend them as they are made with a breathable material (G1000-sort of a waxed canvas). If you are up north in the hills wearing +4's and proper length socks and garters they are ideal as calf protection.

Had some goretex/waterproof ones in the past and they were often wetter inside than out, with sweat! I don't believe any gaiter can make your footwear truly waterproof, better to go with water resistant yet breathable and not movement impeding.

Better yet, get some tick killing furniture spray and liberally coat your gaiters with them, seems to work a treat.

Can anyone point me in the direction towards spares for gaiters ?

Spare elastic
Spare bras hooks for the front to hook on laces
Spare straps that go under the sole of boot

Got couple pairs , one Harkila, one no brand name still good but need various bits to get em back up to scratch ... material themselves good

Your local shoe mender will be able to fit new hooks to the front. Mine charged me £3 to supply & fit.
As for elastic, when the elastic went in mine I left it in place and threaded a piece of thin bungy cord behind it. Worked a treat.
A good pair of bootlaces is better than straps to go underneath, imo.

Carl

I've finally tracked-down the ones I had in mind but couldn't locate on my phone:
None better IMHO

Lovely. And, with a slightly fetishistic vibe from all that lacing...

Carl, I still have a pair which I bought from Gregor McLeod many years back. I am not sure what make they are, but they are still going after some 25 years service. Cammo in colour (just) and with a soft outer surface that makes them almost silent. Much better than those stiff canvas ones you see for sale.
I have not seen any in his shop for a while now, but if you PM Tikka 308 (andy) on the site here, I believe he bought a similar pair a few years back from somewhere else.
