The hotel responses have slowed down a bit. I will be chasing them up as soon as I get a moment from the stalking to pop in and see them. I will get back to you.

As for camping on site, again not sure about that so will have to ask. Although there are campsites close by...

I used to attend the Border union dog show there is no shortage of places to stay where dogs are allowed in the area. I hope the show is a great sucess. If its on the show ground they may allow a camp site same as at dog show.

How about a stand where you can put some of your unwanted stuff for someone to flog for you. You say what you want for it. It then gets tagged and logged so as if it sells there's a record of whose it was and it may give you some more lolly to spend there. We've all got something, be it scope rings, bases, cases, reloading gear, basically anything that doesn't require an rfd. You pay a percentage of selling price to person running it. ??????

Good idea be something that could help "Saddler" out a shared stand??

Teyhan1's suggestion is something I tend to do when trading at the odd Game Fair or the Bisley shows anyway - though not for a cut of the sale price!

Assuming I take a stall - anyone wanting to add items to the table for sale would be welcome - as long as they donated say 20% to H4H or some such charity?
We took several £ at the Newark show on the Lovat Soc. stall for H4H

May be an idea to run a similar system on at least ONE stall at the event? I'd be happy to do so...

I met a hotel owner at a recent event I traded at in Melrose - I can find out her details if that may help?
She said she was also planning to arrange some sort of events that stalkers may want to attend...lectures & workshops, maybe even a smaller version of the Kelso event too

Saddler, are you an RFD? If so then bullet head trades would be good. I get really fed up with having to buy boxes of 50/100 for testing. If people bring along some of their used boxes then we could all leave with a selection of different rounds to test for gun suitability. I'd be happy to bring along some of my spare boxes but we would need an RFD as I'm sure no one else would have ALL the calibres on their license. Hey, why not clothing as well. My expanding waistline has rendered at least 1x Harkila trousers unwearable.

NOT an RFD; but I'm covered for powder & primers as I have an RCA/Pomster to cover picking up such things for mates in the club

Have .22, .277, 6.5, .30, .303, .45 & S.1 slug on licence
Another approach could be a "Swap Shop" type list - write what you have/what you want - & add your mobile number!

Jamross,
Being new to stalking and having litle spare money i will be looking to go with independent/Amatuer stalkers who do paid stalks to help with there lease costs but have another main job. If you had a stall for these stalkers to advertise there stalking like a sort of directory where someone like me could find out who is doing this sort of thing in my area and what their prices are like it would be a great help to newbies and independent/Amatuer stalkers alike.

Cheers Graham

Hi Jamross

Just wondered if there are any further updates on the fair/website progress etc?..

Hi Rob

Apologies for not updating this thread sooner.

Latest is that the venue is basically full now! Thatbis assuming all those that confirmed they were attending will still do so. there will be booking forms sent out via email this weekend and beginning if next week.

The latest addition to traders coming was Brock and Norris. They also have a couple of folk in the business that may also be coming but still to confirm. As soon as we get the confirmed booking forms back in we will update the website to show all those deffinately coming.

We are pleased with the interest from traders but perhaps overlooked the amount of admin work involved, although on top of it now it has been an eye opener!

The ideas above suggested brother members are fine providing an RFD wishes to take on that responsibility.

We could perhaps pop up a notice board atthe fair with details of anyone offering stalking. I don't think we will have much spare stall space now, especially after speakingto Mike Norris, which is a good thing.

And the important stuff is now sorted as well, catering and the bar!!!

Part of the aims of Fusion Stock Works ltd is to build a digitised library of rifle stocks. We hope this library will last as long as long as digital media will.

The library will serve two uses.

1.It will enable us to be able to play a part in restoring some very nice old rifles/muzzle loaders even muskets. To there former glory.

2. Ever fancied a sako 75 in a stutzen stock with a ajustable cheek piece? well that's what the library will also be about.

We will make the libary available to the any one that wishes to use the information for resurch or just curiosity. There will be no charge for this.

So to aid the above we will be bringing our scanning equipment to the fair.

This service will always be free regardless of the fair or not.

But it would be nice to see anyone who has a rare old (or not) rifle and wants to see it immortalised in some small way.

The fair is just the ideal oppertunity for the library to get started.
