hang on there!! all ready a very good thread on 243 on the go all and ever question ever asked about 243 is on the 513 post ,so pointless to do it all again

You'll be asking us all to be reasonable next, think before we post, etc.; as if the good gentlemen of the SD would ever countenance such level-headedness!

[I see you couldn't resist joining in though. That's the spirit!]

I love this type of thread, it draws out comments from the experts and the armchair variety who have probably never owned or even shot a .243! :) Very entertaining!!

My thoughts for what they are worth is that the .243 is like the Suzuki Jeep of the four wheel drives. It will get most jobs done, its not going to satisfy all your needs and when some extra grunt is required it will struggle to deliver compared with its competitors.

i know a guy who shoots all species of deer in the U.K. possibly 100 deer a year. He uses the only rifle he has ever had. 243. And by the way I wouldnt want to call him a woman. This is just a willy waving contest. Just to add to our U.S. cousins I know a lady who shoots 270 and loves it.

i love mine it will do what i want it to do and if its a girlie gun so be it. if you say 243 is a ladies calibre that dont say much for the most popular round in the usa the 223 now thats what i call a boys calibre . :stir:

Maybe ??? Thinking about it, WHY do our American cousins love there A R s so much , well they need fifty rounds just to hit the target , where WE Only need ONE SHOT that's what he,s not telling US!! :smug: :stir:

It is a commonly held truth in the US that the 22LR has probably accounted for more deer than all other calibers combined.

Yes and caused pain and suffering to many thousands injured and not recovered.
Only inconsiderate Rsoles would use such a cartridge on your largish species of deer.
The .22RF is a fine cartridge for feathered and small furry vermin and is NOT and NEVER will be a suitable one for deer.

Ha! You are so right! I've never owned a .243 or even killed a deer with one, although I have used one on the range. I do however have a Suzuki Vitara! I am a fairly accomplished hairdresser too and learnt my trade in the desert where I perfected the art using clippers run off a generator! Before too long I had perfected the wet scissor cut and could even deliver a good 'flat-top' whilst delivering normal barbershop banter. I became known as 'Vidal Baboon' and accepted many tips which were donated to a local charity back home.
I'm not gay though!!!:gheyfight:
MS:lol:
I thinjk the smallest calibre I have killed a deer with is a 25.06 (other than humane dispatch).
