THAC Copper Bullets

Fair enough mate.

I’ve found them good when sent hurtling.

Haven’t had the nerve to “back them off “ just yet.
When I started loading Barnes back in 2008 there wasn’t the load data there is now, so I just loaded them up and made them work, always loaded weight for calibre, never dropped a weight and stuffs always fell over.

Just an update

They are struggling to get the bullets to the UK but the demand for them is massive.

They mentioned the cost , so I’m thinking the £96 per 100 will be a thing of the past

And here in lies the problem

Find something that works but not made in country and inevitably more folk want it and if a relatively new or small operator then it becomes
1. Unobtanium
2. Bloody expensive.

I’m thinking just go Barnes and call it a day.

Make them work, so to speak.

Im talking about honeloading
Barnes not UK but big enough and around long enough to be reasonably reliable to source

Then you have
Yewtree and Fox and seems to be plenty folk happy with em

Thats 3 i have experience with

Paul

I’d say the Sako powerhead blade bullet is superior to any of these, and readily available both loaded and in component format

Which is a problem if you have developed an excellent load but cannot always source components. for that recipe.

So I prefer to stick with UK-sourced Virtus and ever-available Barnes [who seem to be big enough to be reliable exporters to the U.K.]

In the process of working up a load for the 6.5 PRC

N565 powder, RWS primers and fresh Norma brass.

The rifle didn't seem to gel with Yew tree, no matter how much I fiddled with powders, seating depths etc etc

Yet to try barnes in this rifle, could never seem to get 120 grain 6.5mm.... Although I shoot the TTSX in both my 243 and 308 with great success 🙌🏽

Watch this space, will get these test loads shot by the end of the week hopefully 🙏🏼

I know somewhere there is a good supply, but I'm not telling 🤣 if these perform then I'll go buy a bunch

What weight of the 6.5 Thac bullets are those 1s as they make a few.

I believe they are releasing 90-100 gr for 6.5mm too

6mm 70-80-90-100-110 gr

It would be nice to know where to get a box but I’ll just mail the uk importer and he should tell me

Moved to THAC as I had some issues with another brand that were phenomenally accurate but failed to expand on more than one occasion

Load development consisted of nine shots to get VO and accuracy I wanted (^3000 and .3 moa) with single digit es

Terminal performance has been emphatic

Close and at “distance”

Bang, DRT

122 g 6.5/284

This is good to hear, I'm yet to shoot my test loadings... bad weather and horses to shoe! Hopefully this week 🙏🏼
