The Fallow chop didn't exactly portray a lean 'fat free' meat though did it?
I've never see so much fat on a piece of venison. looked more like a fatty lamb chop.
MS.
Most game dealers this side of the wall most game dealers don't like the aches split as there is no requirement in a correctly designed cold room the carcass will not cool any quicker with the aches split.
Cracking programme.
Well done Mr Warner.
Good representation of deer management, did anybody else think the shot shown may not have been the one that killed the roe? No follow through, just didnt look right to me??
Watched the programe by pure chance while channel hopping, thought it was a very well presented piece on our sport. The very first thing i thought when the shot was taken was 'Done for the camera'. If that was the kill shot then i think he was very lucky to get a kill, let aloan a clean one! As you say, it just did not look right........
The bit at the School was a particularly good piece with the parents giving thier suport and hopefully one in the eye for the antis! At last some telly that is worthly of the TV licence!
Hopefully be able to see it on BBC I player thingy...

Well done Mr Warner.
In Mr Clunes' defence. He started off with words to the effect that he was a bit squeamish about the whole prospect but he is a meat eater so he was willing to give it a go. That'll do for me as an honest admission and good for him for even thinking of giving it a go. He actually seemed to do OK on the practice plate with the rifle. So, why it never went to a kill we can never know. It was certainly presented as though the paying gun he was out with fluffed the job and they ran out of time for getting Martin onto shot after that. It looked like a fair effort but no animals were evidently harmed during the making of that episode... I've had days like that too....![]()

The paying gun was me, although I didn't pay anything! The main issue was the fact that deer aren't going to hang about when there is a camera man, sound man, sound mans assistant, producer, Clunes, the ghillie and myself all trudging up the hill with everyone except me and the ghillie in blue, red, black jackets etc, most frustrating. Clunes wasn't in the slightest bit interested either to be honest, I would compare him to a well trained dog, he did as the producer asked and that was it, he didn't give a toss to be frank!
No decent chances presented themselves on the day, so, no shot.
I watched it with my 10 year old twins.
Sarah, said – I love deer, they are so cuddly – and that taste delicious!
Edward said – Can I get paid for stalking deer, and how can I become a forest ranger.
Great prog all round!
