4x4 vehicle insurance.

Still on the subject of insurance, who are people using for 4x4 insurance?
I'm currently with NFU, and the premium for my Isuzu D-Max has just gone up to £670 / year, which I think is extortionate.
Looking to change.
Sounds about the normal price I thought. Im with NFU but I think the cost is worth it as they pay our fairly and quickly when you need them from my families experience

NFU Mutual for 5 x Isuzu D Max and 2 x VW Amaroks. But it is starting to get expensive. In particular, windscreen cover has doubled from £50.00 to £100.00. We had a brand new Isuzu D Max written off by a third party drugged driver last year and getting a new replacement took many months and a hell of a lot of chasing. In the end I sourced the replacement for them. But I wonder if any other insurer would have performed any better.

just bought a 2018 Hilux, 1st Commercial vehicle, fully comp £580, Aged 45 with wife as added driver, 17 yrs NCB protected, no accidents/convictions living in Norfolk.

Insurance seems to have got technical, taking into account not only "your" age , driving / claims history, vehicle engine size etc.
A lot of it now seems to be weighted to the potential cost of repair / writing off.

I was toying with getting a 1985 LR pickup. Put it in an insurace search as an additional vehicle for me (cant use no claims on two vehicles) and named driver for a 17yr old girl, just passed test, and the quote was under £300.00.

Same specs with 2010 Ford Galaxy about £600

Same specs with 2016, 1.5l focus over a grand.

At the end of the day, if they see your vehicle being a risk (not you) the premium will be high regardless of where you look 😞

I saw a '10s Defender 110 for sale on here a while back that I jokingly put through one of those comparison sites (for around £7k if memory serves me right). At 29, never had an accident, 4 years NCB, with my partner also on (who also never had any bother) - cheapest (of 5) quotes came in at £2500 and a compulsory excess of £1500 😂 The other 4 quotes were between £3500-5000+ and similar (or greater) excesses.

I was with LV a few years ago and the premium was hiked at renewal - did a "go compare", being careful to select like for like and the cheapest came out as LV, £50 less than my renewals quote!!

That was the same for me a couple of years ago... Rang up Hastings (who I was with) and the CS rep ran me through the system, and surprise suprise, the "best" she could offer me suddenly beat the Hastings quote via comparison sites.

Last year, though my renewal quote ended up being the best price I could find... and lets not even talk about this years... (I have weeped about it elsewhere on here enough already)

Try Adrian Flux

I've been with A -Plan for a number of years. They have all been Isuzu crew cab trucks I have insured. My current 4X4 is a Utah and the cost went up recently to £520 fully comp, with business use and carrying firearms.
NFU quoted me in excess of £900, jokers. Staying with A-Plan, which is now called Howdens.

If you manage to get to 80+ like me you will have quite a shock as I've said elsewhere. And that's driving for 65 years without a claim.
Hah... try getting travel insurance, never come across so many ‘dick turpins’ all I wanted was insurance for a world cruise 😢

My Hilux invincible has just gone from £512 to £905, most expensive quote 3.5k! I've been with direct line 19 years, counted for sweet f.a

I just had a very competitive quote from Adrian Flux on my Landrover. Worth giving them a try. I saved a lot from my current insurer.

Adrian Flux and A Plan always seem to come up with the most competitive fully comp policies for me, I usually end up with a policy from one of them.
